Default Sub question

I have heard good and bad things about the ZEnclosures boxes. I am thinking about getting either a W0 or W3. Would the single 10" ZEnclosures box hold this without busting? Also any reccomendations on what amp, wiring, etc. to use with this setup?

so when did this whole thing about zen-enclsoure boxes bustin come about? as far as i have seen, not too many, if any, members on here, run any kind of subs that can even come close to blowing apart a decently constructed MDF box...which is what i thought the zenenclosure box is...

can someone clue me in?

i have acutally never seen a glue and nail/screwed 3/4" mdf box blow apart from ANY sub, including 2000 watt into each sub....

only boxes i've seen fall apart are q logic boxes which I've had air leaks from one and had maybe 2 friends have they're fall apart on them also, but I've always heard nothing but good things about zenclosures,I mainly think its cause of the mdf whereas other people try using particle board for a sub box

for wiring,i've been staying with nothing but stinger wiring, rca's,fuse blocks, distribution blocks, etc.

As far as amps go,for this car i'm going with all Jl Audio,so far I have a Jl 450/4 for the speakers, the jl 1000/1,and jl 500/1,I was going to run a 12w7 with the 1000/1,but I think I'm gonna run the 12w6 with the 500/1 instead

I've used other brands in the past with my honda prelude, but for the z i figured i'd keep it simple and just stick to a Jl setup but with CDT Audio speakers, whereas in my prelude I keep getting bored with it and now and keep changing the setup around

IMO for your setup I would just stick with a zenclosure box, maybe a JL10w3,and a 500/1 amp and stinger wiring, you can find pretty good prices for stinger stuff at hifisoundconnection.com,I always buy my stinger stuff from them

hope this helps

+1 the amount of energy required to bust such a quality box would come from the motor ... not the radio!

I think it came from my joke in the 2x10" Fi Q thread

I hope everyone saw that as a joke .... I mean come on ... I don't actually know of a subwoofer that can break its enclosure.

The only thing I'd be worried about is the actual front baffle/screw holes stripping out if you have a REALLY heavy sub. And the easy fix for that is T-nuts
