space problem with pre-fab 2 10" enclosure
has anyone had a problem with the pre fab 2 10" enclosure that goes below the strut tower bar... the problem is it sounds like Sh#t... sounds to me like a space problem (lack of)...
has anyone had good luck with a certain speaker in this enclosure.
thanks in advance.

exactly which enclosure are you referring to? Zenclosures, WickedCAS, home made, other?
They each have a different internal volume and thereby will have different subs that work well in them.

im not sure what brand it is... it is appears to be .65 to .75 cf, by the internal measurements. i have isoed the drivers and reversed the polarity, added polyfill to attempt to get more space. they sound much better this way but not what i want. they hit extreme highs and no lows.
i have checked my crossover and it is correct.
i have an american bass 1000(zed audio) and two punch series 1's at a 2 ohm mono.
i confirmed this problem with a tone generator to see if it was my patch cables or my head unit and it did the same.
any help would be greatly appriciated.
thanks

well, your P1's are recommended for .5-.85 cu ft enclosures. with .75 or less divided by 2 chambers, you are now looking at .375 cu ft per subwoofer. you need to find a sub that is recommended for that small of an enclosure. On average, polyfill only gains you a MAX of 10%, so even with your polyfill, you are showing the subs no more than .4 cu ft.
Perhaps someone will chime in witha good option, but I will look around for you.

^^^ pretty close to hitting it on the head...zed turns out decent stuff a while back and pretty bad stuff as well, it all depends on what hte client asks...the american bass stuff definetly are NOT one of zed's finer products. and the p1s are pretty weak subs as well.
BUT, as also mentoined above, if you are saying you have a total of .75 cubfeet divided into two, then yes, you are running too small of a box, and that means a lot off boominess around the 50-80hz range, and not much low freq extension...boomy and not clear.

this is the standard 2 10" pre-fab mono under strut bar enclosure.

thanks for the info streetoc192

Bottom line for your situation - The space allotted for each sub is pretty small. That is probably your biggest obsticle right now. The fact that the amp may not be ZED's finest may play a bit of a factor in sound quality/sub control, but it should still feed the sub enough watts to make it bump. The P1's are a lower end sub by Rockford, but again in the PROPER SIZED enclosure they too should still bump.
For anybody to say the equipment someone has is junk is a bold statement, in that I mean, everyone has their own budget for the audio in their car. Not everyone can go out and drop $400 on a sub amp and $350 on a 10" sub. Some people may be trying to add a little low end extension for $300 total. There is nothing wrong with this so long as the person realizes the limitations in his/her equipment.

0.3 cu ft sealed.
16psibrick (above) is a dealer for eD, so maybe he can shed some light into how this sub will actually work in a cabinet that small.

Exactly. There are subs out there that work well with less space. If you do a little research on Crutchfield, acaraudio.com, or other site with lots of info, you can find an appropriate match in terms of sealed box space. Your options will be pretty limited with such a small enclosure. Sell your subs. I am thinking that Polk Momo subs have a line that gets really deep bass from small subs and enclosures. I'm running one 8" sub that gets bass down to 28hz.

the 11kv is not a bad sub for small enclosures, though i still like to put them in the middle of their recommend space enclosure to get more out of htem.
two tiny box subs i use with good success:
1. image dynamics idq10, did a pair of them in a .75 cubfeet box a few times, -3 db down was below 20hz easily.
2. elemental designs SQ10, flat 3" sub, also works well in a .3 cub feet enclousre and only 70 bucks each

the FI subs, though i have no experiences, gets decent reviews for good small box performance, not sure if you have enough power to power then though
