Garmin has released a software update for the GVN52. The latest version is v2.30, dated Jan 3, 2007. If you have a GVN52, you should download the update, copy it to a SD card, and follow Garmin’s installation instructions (available on their website). Garmin has released four software updates (v2.00, v2.10, v2.20, and v2.30) for the GVN52. The versions before v2.30 mainly handled corrections for European users, but v2.30 provides a significant advantage to all users. Garmin states on their website that v2.30 improves composite video. I downloaded and installed v2.30 tonight, and I can report (after running some tests with a Power Acoustik PT-700MHR monitor) that this is true. The Garmin GVN52 has always provided good composite video, but installing software v2.30 gives a noticeable improvement, especially in text display and map-graphics.
