as for sub duties...the 6.5s i would use acutally sound like a decently powered 10 when done with two fo them.

but as fara s the 10 goes, i am looking at this sub, about 3" deep, and works well in .3-.4 cub feet

depths and enclosure requirements wouldnt be a problem. and with a built in grille, it should just be literally a pop in. would most likely be precisely assembled and CNCed mdf versus fiberglass

Check out exile's thin subs. They look pretty nice.

Exile is run by old old former PG employees.

cool guys...thanks for hte suggestions...

again, i want to emphasize i am not myself entering the market. i stand to gain pretty much nothing monetarily from this...as i am not going to be the one building, or selling the boxes. This idea stems purely from the fact that i thought it can help certain Z owners in their quest for bass and space savings.

the original ideal from the guys is for an understrut box, whcih would be, IMO, entering a saturated market, so i am hoping to convince them to turn to this design instead

Good advice. Every other configuration for the Z is either mass produced or easy to build on your own with MDF. This would fill a void in the offerings. Hard to tell how many people would be interested though. I think it's an awesome setup but obviously I am already heavily biased towards it!

Maybe factor in weight savings... That shallow (neodymium?) sub in a fiberglass enclosure would be perfect for someone concerned with weight. Bose tried to do it all light-weight and failed miserably. Someone please do lightweight enclosures right!
