Possible Odometer Rollback ?!?!?
I went to the dealer this morning, to talk about possibly trading in my car maybe for an 07.
They said it looks like I could get around 18k for it. (2003 enthusiast 6-speed excellent mechanical condition 32k miles) when he did the carfax report he saw possible odometer rollback !!!!
When the previous owner registered it in PA it had freakin 48,010 miles !! and when I bought it from my used car dealer in NY it had 25,515...
Damn, if yall could give me some advice on what I should do that would be appreciated.
Who can I take to court?
here is a copy of my carfax report!!

Looks like a recording error (clerical error) to me. According to CarFax, the first owner put 12K on the car in the first year, and then put three times that mileage on the car in the following 18 months.
That would be a big change in driving habits. Possible explanation could be the owner changed jobs and the new job had more than twice the driving distance. Maybe that could happen in California, but who drives that far to work on the East Coast?
My bet is your car has a legitimate 32K miles. Somebody recording the mileage messed-up.

Same thing happened to my Camaro when I traded it in. Some punk in New Mexico drove it for 3 years without getting it registered or inspected before my friend bought it. When the Carfax was run it showed that it had 40k miles put on it in 3 years since the last mileage point. I tried explaining to them that 40k in 3 years was exactly the pace of mileage that the car had. They said if it had the Carfax problem that it was probably never going to go away and that the value was really hurt by that.
Good luck getting it fixed.

I don't know if it's required by every state, but in LA when you sell or trade a car, you must sign a certificate of true mileage. That should be on file with the state and you should be able to get a copy to prove the mileage the last time is was sold/traded.

similar thing in the UK with HPI check and milage check. Sometimes people can be an ******* and actually put in a higher milage just to make it difficult for future buyers. . . . it sucks. . . . cant remember why people do it but when i recently work at a car dealership i was told why. . . .
