Default Best Navigation Device?

Anyone have an opinion on the best navigation device/product?

1) Which is the best database: NAVTEQ or Tele Atlas?

2) Any opinions on the best application software?

3) Who makes the best hardware (Eclipse, Pioneer, Garmin, etc.).

Hmm...my vote is Garmin. I currently have 3 of their units and couldn't be happier.

A side note though...In May I will also be getting the Alpine W205 and B200 blackbird.

I like the Mio digiwalker ( about $260) i bought it for my mom and it works so great that i use it myself all the time. The only thing i dont like is it sometimes takes a minute to find the gps signal.

I've had a Tom Tom 300 for a couple years and it works well. Fits perfectly in the dash cubby. I ran the power thru the dash.

Bump (self-bumping is probably never a good thing to do… resorting to that is an admission that your thread is lame and nobody cares)

Okay then… I’ve tried this thread a couple of months ago, and no interest then, and it appears there is little interest now. I should probably give up. But, allow me to reduce the thread to a single question.

The Question:

Which is the better database for navigation: NAVTEQ or Tele Atlas?

Tech... Thanks for the reply. I also favor Garmin. My Jeep is Alpine-equipped, and I really like this device as well. Although the application software is quite different between Garmin and Alpine, both Garmin and Alpine use the NAVTEQ database.

I like the Garmin Portables. I have the 550 but am eying the new nuvi 660. The maps they use is far superior than the maps most of the other guys use. I think they use NAVTEQ.

After being in my friends car that has a pioneer (Tele Atlas) in dash nav, I will never go to anything other than NAVTEQ. It said we reached our destination (my work) when we were still around the corner from it. My Garmin says it when we are right there.

My stock nav thinks that my parking garage is a different address than my office building. It is kind of annoying when I pull in to park and it is trying to redirect me next door.
