I have the Diamond Audio S600s component kit that will be going up front so today I took the tweeters out to the car to compare to the OEM ones and was totally surprised in the size difference! The Diamond tweeter inside its flush-mounting ring is actually bigger than the area of where the OEM tweeters are!!
What have you guys with new front do for your new tweeters? I haven't taken off the little triangle piece where the OEM one is yet to check it out but since the new tweeter is actually bigger than the surface area to mount it to I don't know what to think now!?!?
Can you guys with replacements already in please post some pics or details on how and what you did your new tweeters!!!

My installer ran into the same problem. i love his solution. He cut a hole where the stock tweeter was (a bit off center from stock to accomodate the larger aftermarket tweet) and did kinda flush mount. I think it looks great-totally professional...

well, i had the same problem with my diamond audio M6's this weekend. What i ended up doing was removing the tweet from it's flush mount cup. Then i had to trim a little piece of plastic that was in the way of th tweeter sitting flush agains the plastic, then i just used the stock metal bracket to hold it in place. Looks totally sano.... The only problem is that the tweeter is wider than the holes in the sail panel. But, because of the difference in loudness (mine are set at 0), it sounds fine.
But the solution above looks sweet!!

1) Remove the tweeter from the black plastic flush mount surround, then modify the stock tweeter hole to accomodate the aftermarket tweeter.
2) Leave the black plastic flush mount surround on, but cut a bigger hole, slightly off center, to accomodate the new tweeter. The bottom of the flush mount would have to be beneath the bottom of the sail panel, b/c it won't all fit inside the "triangle" piece you speak of with the flush mount surround.
3) Fabricate a new custom sail panel triangle piece to work how you want it.
I have the same tweeters and the same problem. I'll let you know how my installers and I ultimately decide to handle it.
Not sure on the dimensions for the Diamond Audio tweeter, but if they are anywhere near the JL XR tweeter dimension, you may want to try and do what I did.
Remove the sail panel, and remove the tweeter assembly from the sail panel. Remove the screw securing the tweeter to the piece of metal. Remove the tweeter from the metal. Determine center of your speaker, line it up with the whole in the metal plate and epoxy the speaker in place.
I have pictures and will post them tonight...

Thanks for all the replies and details so far! Could you guys please post some pics of them? Pics during the install or what you actually did to them would be GREAT, showing what mods that were done to them etc. But if you only have finished / installed pics that would be just as good too! Thanks alot!
Like I said earlier, not sure about the Diamond Audio tweeter, but here is my JL tweeter install in stock location without any cutting of the sail panel. Maybe this will give you some ideas on how to mount yours. I have some other photos if you want to see them...
I'm dealing with this exact same issue (or rather, I'm starting to think about it as I'm narrowing down my choice of speakers for the front.) I'm torn between the Diamond S600s and the Boston Pro Series. The Diamond tweeter is twice as big as the Boston one, which is one reason why I'm leaning towards the Bostons.
The Diamond may require a new sail panel to be constructed by a qualified installer. This shouldn't be too big of a deal, as any good installer will be experienced at creating custom body pieces (kick panels, sub boxes, etc) to be used for mounting speakers. On the one hand, this will definitely be the costlier option, but it may look better than the results you might get if you just took a hole saw to your sail panel and tried to create some room yourself.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes for you.

Here's another of the tweeter after I epoxy'ed it to the tweeter mounting bracket before I re-attached it back to the sail panel.
edit:
this is the only other picture of the tweeter. But, the finished product looks stock - no drilling required
