Default Pioneer AVIC-D3

Does anyone know how to bypass this unit so that you can play DVD while driving? Does it work the same way as other units or did they make it harder to bypass?

Thinking of getting one soon. I am trying to figure out also, if you have to have the nav dvd in for it to work for navigation and if you can play mp3's while using nav. Anyone have any idea?

Call them toll-free, and talk to Crutchfield tech person. I believe they will tell you that it does fit into the double-din space. --Spike

I have the Avic Z1 and I haven't figured out how to permanetly be able to play dvds on mine. I can however confuse the system by turning on and off my lights when the system is starting, and for some reason that allows me to play dvds while driving.

Yeah, it fits. Crutchfield is just not up to date on their databases. Check out the site avic411.com. They are trying to figure out how to bypass this unit so it can play dvds on the road. Looks like a nice unit.

D3 is nice apart from not being able to use the nav and other discs simultaneously. I'm waiting on the Alpine.

my friend just got his installed last night we had my ipod hooked up it was great being able to play videos through it from the iPod. The quality is good. It is just inconvenient that you have to keep changing the disc every time you want to change your NAV.

Well, it has memory nav where you can load up your destination and it will store it in memory so that you can switch up disks. So you can listen to a cd, etc while in nav mode.

Found it cheapest for < $820 shipped from park ave electronics. You can go on Crutchfield if you are not that brave and get it for $849 with a code but you have to get 2 other pioneer products.

I will be getting one soon hopefully. I wonder if anyone has one installed in a Z yet??

It will do that untill you take a wrong turn and the unit needs to recaculate. It cannot recaculate unless you put the Nav Disc back in. (What a pain)
