subs install question
I have an 03 Z Coupe, been think about installing 10" subs behind the driverside seat and the passangerside. I know its possible for the driverside but can u install them behind the passangerside seat too, after you take out the glove box.
If you have any pic of subs behind the seat, that would be great to see. THANKS

its possible- there's more than enough room for a 10 on each side, but after investigating on my own...the options available just aren't that appealing unless you're a fiberglass wizard yourself. the downward firing cubby sub enclosures fire into a chamber that isn't deadened at all. If you took out all the panels and started laying down 20+ sqft of dynamat in there, you'll get much better results...in the end, for what i wanted, i'd have to craft some new panels to go behind the seats, since it makes the covers rattle too badly, and there's not a lot that can be done about it

I decided to try it out on the drivers side myself. I have read tons of posts about it and it seems that everyone here says that it can be done but shouldn't because of the sound quality. I think that only a few people have done this and nobody has given a fair try to this. Check out my post a few lines below this one and you'll see my write up and pictures.
I hopefully am going to finish it off tonight. I think if you wanted to do the same thing on the passenger side you could take out the glove box and put the same thing in that is on the drivers side.
I am going for something that takes up no space, is cheap, and sounds ok. I'm not going for awards in Sq or db, just something that sounds better than the stock system.

I couldn't find a bass tube that could fit in the bose area. I looked at a few and it was going to take up a lot of space inbetween the back of the seat and rear bar.

bass tube would fit... but how would you secure it so it didn't slide around in the cubby behind the seats? can't drill down because of the gas tank, and drilling up would be difficult...very difficult. industrial zip ties maybe?

A good point of why I didn't go with one. I know the sub I'm putting in will sound a lot better than the bass tube and will have more power. I'd like to think that the sub will project the sound out instead of into the space.
Even if it doesn't work really well I just found out that my new cd player makes the sound so much better than stock. It actually sounds like I have a small sub in there now.
