Default Airbag and Service Engine Soon Dash Lights

I have just installed an Alpine D310 (in dash flipout dvd player) and got it to work properly, but I am getting an airbag light and a check engine soon light on the dash. I have already disconnected the battery to try and reset the system, but that did not solve the issue.

I found a sequence that allowed me to reset my Airbag light and now it is off. This is the sequence I used:

1. Put the key in the ignition
2. Turn the key to the on position
3. Wait for the airbag light to turn off as soon as the airbag light goes off turn the key to the off position (if you do not turn key to off position immediately after the airbag light goes off, the lilght will blink).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a total of 3 times.
5. Turn the key to the on position, and the airbag light will blink a code.
6. Turn the key off and the light will return to normal next time you start the truck

I still have the service engine soon light on, Anybody have any ideas or info?

Glad to see there was a lot of info submitted about this...lol

Someone at Sound Advice in Sarasota informed me that the Service Engine Soon light came on because I had the key in the ignition while I was unhooking the head unit... Wether that is true or not, the light eventually reset after a couple of days. Not sure why, but the light went out on its own and I know the light works cause it lights up everytime I start the car. Hope this helps somebody in the future...

It's a CANbus error. If you turn ignition key without the little white box (connects to HVAC controls) connected, you'll trip the error. Once everything is normal and after a few starts it'll go away.

how long should it take for the light to shut off after you put the key in?
