Looking for great subs with a shallow mount
I want to build a concealed enclosure in the trunk of my G35 coupe that will allow stock functionality for daily use, but which will be a showpiece at car shows with the trunk mat removed. The problem is that the stock tire well depth is about 6 1/2 inches. I have a JL 10w6 and was planning on adding another, but their mounting depth is 6.9 inches, which doesn't account for the top of the speaker and room for excusion, or 3/4 inch of MDF at the bottom of the box.
So, I'm looking for alternatives with a shallower mounting depth and yet still have good output (similar to or better than the 10w6), if possible.
I'll be powering them with a JL 500/1.
Any ideas?

image dynamics IDQ i second
the ID you can also do if you just remove the plastic magnet cover
elemental designs kv series you should be able to fit
as well as the 3" deep sq10
i have a good few installs as you described on my site, you can feel free to reference it

Bing, a couple of your stealth installs gave me this idea.
I still need the trunk to be functional, but I want to have more pizazz than my current 4080 box and hidden components.
