Hello guys, I have searched but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I have a 60 GB Creative ZEN Vision W which plays movies and songs. It has a A/V out connection and I can output its video to a LCD screen.
I am thinking about a 7 inch LCD screen which has a AV IN (red/white/yellow cables) which will go in cubby hole so I can connect my ZEN W via this a/v cable and use the ZEN as a multimedia device. I am trying to eliminate the mess CD's and DVD's make in car. :P
What type of 7 inch LCD screen do you experienced audio/video guys recommend? Any good sharp ones available? Do you recommend just getting the LCD screen OR the navigation w/ LCD screen which has A/V out?
Thanks in advance.

I am not familiar with the Creative ZEN Vision W, but from your description it sounds as though this device outputs NTSC/PAL video using a composite connection and stereo sound.
The connections:
Video output: Yellow
Audio left output: White
Audio right output: Red
If that is the case, you can install an LCD monitor in the upper/forward cubby. You connect the composite video (yellow connector) to the LCD. Connect the audio output lines (left and right) to the AUX input on your H/U.
What year is your Z?

It looks as though the ZEN Vision W is a self contained unit that has a VGA screen. That might not be the best pick since you plan to use a remote screen and do not need this unit's screen (and the extra expense). If you plan to connect this to a 7" monitor in the Z, The "plain" ZEN Vision or ZEN Vision:M seem to be a better choice. It looks as though the device would work since it supports output to NTSC/PAL . But, the software application and its drivers for this "prefer" VGA, so I would guess that the NTSC display may not be so great.
Not sure about the 12v wiring for this in a car environment. You may need to install an inverter to run this in your car. That adds more work and cost.
I have no experience installing a 7" monitor in a 2006. Hopefully another reader here will respond about the LCD monitor install.

Thanks for the replies back guys. I would love to have carpc installed. I know there is a lot of info out there and one of the members stuck the mobo/cpu in one of the back seat compartments which was pretty cool. I would like to know how much the total cost of all would be at the end?
