I have the Bose stereo without the navigation and I bought the AVN5500 to replace the head unit.

I've been looking at how to wire the harness to the head unit and i've noticed that the front line-out terminals on the head unit are rca jacks, where as the harness has an amplifier turn on wire and a amplifier shield ground wire. How do i wire the two together? Or how do i wire the bose amp into the AVN5500? I'd like to retain the use of the bose sub.

which harness did u buy? model#?

 

If your system is stock you wont be using the RCA's coming out of the headunit. Just connect all the wires from the harness to the Eclipse wires and install. Use a cap or some electric tape to cover any RCA's that are not being used.

 

does that mean the subwoofer won't be used?

Its the nissan wire harness from crutchfield #120707550?

 

No, if you hook up all the wires correctly the Bose Amp should turn on even though your using an aftermarket radio and harness. If hooked up correctly the factory amplifiers should all turn on.

 

even though theres no connection to the amp wires on the wire harness? (the wire harness has two wires, one for the amp ground, and one that says amp turn on)

These are the wires that i was wondering about? Do these splice into anything coming from the head unit?

Wait, i think i found it. I can just splice the amp control +B (even thought its a different connector?) to the amp on on the wire harness?

 

nevermind i think i figured it out

 

Because the Bose has a seperate amp, you will want to get an adaptor (pac makes one i think) so that you dont send your amplified signals to the bose amp looking for a preamp signal... if you dont, the aftermarket radio will be very loud and will get distorted at higher volumes, worse than stock...
