Default Raamat or Fatmat?

Been researching sound deadening material but not sure what to go with yet?

Looking to do the whole car. Should I go with just closed cell or do I need to do open cell foam too on certain parts of the car? What other tools will I need to purchase to make installation easy?

Did you go to Raamaudio.com yet and check out this link?

http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

Reading through that was a big reason I decided to go with raammat. Can't speak to the fatmat but I dont think you can go wrong with raam.

And ah, make sure you have an exacto knife with a few extra sharp blades; I would get some goo gone for when you get the stuff on your clothes.

And if you just want to spend money, get some knee pads

That sounddeadenershowdown link is a few years old and many products have updated their formulations.........For example FatMat is now a butyl based compound (i think there is still a touch of asphalt in it). I have been using FatMat for about 10 years now and I have been very pleased with the product for the money. Now that they are butyl based, it is easier to cut and work with. They give you a roller and knife with your order along with a degreasing powder that you mix with water. I have only used that stuff on 1 of the installs I did and havem't used it since. I have yet to have a sheet peel off or melt or anything like that (even the asphalt stuff from years ago). The only caveat of FatMat is the shipping time sux. It could take 4 weeks to get your order. But the price is very hard to beat.

Raamat is good stuff as well, field proven to be one of the best, but is still a bit pricey to me.

Thanks that's some good info. Wonder if I should do open and closed cell on the entire car or just on the floors and doors.
