You are not receiving much in the way of responses since this unit is not "mainstream." My guess is that this unit is made by Valor and manufacturered in Korea (or somewhere in the Pacific Rim). Valor's feature-rich products offered at a low SRP (and even lower retail prices advertised by resellers) is why you now see new low-cost units from Kenwood and Pioneer. Alpine and Eclipse have not answered this challenge yet, but it is only a matter of time before these companies provide similar products at much lower prices to match the competition.
Most likely (I don't know this for a fact) the reason Power Acoustik uses Linux is because it provides a significant savings on the licensing side, making the unit considerably less costly without sacrificing appl-software features/functions.
Answering your question... This device (Power Acoustik PAVN-7210) is probably a good product. The question is: Can you get the support and the warranty that you need when buying a fairly expensive piece of equipment (as this)?

Sometimes we pay for products, other times names, other times great service.. most of the time we are just paying for brand names solely based upon their name.
I have a Panasonic indash dvd/ ipod unit... Yeah, I could have forked over 1000's of dollars to get basically the same unit with a fancier name, or a few other bells and whistles that I may never use; but I felt great paying under $500 for my unit.
Do it!
