Default How do I Connect a 12V constan and Switched wire?

Hi All,

I bought a AUXNISSv3, One plug plugs into the stock non bose head unit's CD changer (2004) and it has two other wires,

A. (Yellow) Wire connects to a +12v Source
B. (RED) Wire Connectes to a switched 12v Source

What do i plug these into in the 350z?

Can i splice the factory head unit wires, and if so which ones to i splice?

any help would be great, thanks!!!

you need 2 conections witch are commone to any electrical install.

1-constant 12v
2-ignition 12v

the first one is ware memory and settings are saved and its always gets power from the batery
the second source tells it to turn on and uses power for normal operations

I would look into the manuel to dbl check but I beleive the power constant is yellow and the ignition power is red in the stereo wire harness. if not u can always splice into your ignition wires for ignition power and have a direct conection with a fuse to your batery

Yeah, as these guys mentioned...

OR... to keep things neat and "pretty," just buy the Nissan wiring harness ~$6-7 shipped from ebay for 95-up Nissans, and splice into the two (2) wires mentioned before. This way, you don't mess with any of the "OEM" wiring.

i still need to plug in the wiring harness to the stock radio, so a wiring harness might not be useful??

I am just trying to get power to the AUXNISSv3

God these n00bs have it easy! When I 1st bought my Z in February 2003, I had to use a Fluke meter to figure out what all the pins/colors were for. Now there's convenient little stickies for all you guys. Fawk!

Nevermind me, just releasing some hot air.

If you purchase a "hot wire" tester at radio shack or home depot, you can track down an energized wire anywhere in the car. They're cheap and easy to use. It's a probe with a small light bulb with a grnding strap at the other end. You grnd it to the car then start probing wires while turning the key into different positions. When the bulb lights up, you have 12vdc. Use some of that brain power my man.

Chiming in to tease ya, I bought an ipod/aux pacnis or something and it was plug and play didn't have to splice or anything. This seems a little more difficult. Those little wires are hard to work with.

heres a suggestion, go buy a harness for your nissan from walmart for 7 bucks, plug and play it with the wires, locate the yellow and red wires, now see where those wires go on the car chassis and wire it up.
