If you have an automatic you could go with the Viper 791 so you can upgrade your alarm and remote start all at once. Remote starts and manuals are a no no.

A remote start in a Manual is okay as long as your alarm has bypasses and switches to prevent it from starting the car in gear.

The MTs Z have a PNP switch built in. Tap that signal and the car won't start in gear.

How does this work? I am trying to buy a used Z and i like to upgrade the alarms, but thought I wouldn't be able to with my Z because I want a MT. Do you know of a brand that does this?

Nissan has been making neutral switches on their cars for over 10 years now.. once you tap into that with the remote start.. if it senses the car isn't in neutral it won't start

My remote start alarm is a Code Alarm CA-670 (pager alarm with 5 channels). This unit has a toggle switch to disengage the remote start along with the usual disabling from the hood pin, pressing on brake, or opening the doors or hood when the alarm is on, etc.

The Toggle switch needs to see a negative ground to let the remote start work. So, all you have to do is T-tap the toggle switch wire (the one that is not constant ground) to the neutral wire for the shifter located in the ECU harness and your car will never remote start when in gear. The neutral wire shows ground when in neutral and no ground when in other gear positions. Your valet Remote Start toggle switch will still work like normal also.

I have tested it many times with many different scenarios and have not found a problem yet with it remote starting in gear.

I also forgot to mention that it won't allow me to remote start if the hand brake is not pulled up also.

Why do you say that? I never park in gear unless I am on some kind of incline. If I am on a flat parking lot I always leave it in neutral with the ebrake up.

I don't ever park my 350z in gear and it has been fine. Before I know I am about to go to my car I just remote start it (with the A/C on) and I get to drive away in a cooled car. Ahhhhh... Need it here in Florida.

I hate it when someone else drives my car and leaves it in gear because I'm not used to it...grr!

Im sure you can picture it...get in, close door, clutch in, start engine, clutch out, car jerks and stalls, me looking around to make sure no one saw and cursing at whoever left my car in gear

haha
