which amp
hey whats up everyone. i am trying to piece together my system. so far i installed my kenwood DD head unit and purchased a JL audio 10w3 D2. the components i am looking to get are the CDT CL-61A. i will getting a stealth box and speaker pods from mike. my question is, what kind of amp do you guys recommend to get. the sub runs at 2 ohms. so if you guys can help me out, i would greatly appreciate it
Are you wanting One amp to run everything or Amp for mid/highs and amp for sub? There are so many possible set ups.....My personal opinion, if you want to run rear speakers,,,,Amp the front stage and sub,,,,run rear off the headunit.
Also, the type of amp would determine what kind of sound are you wanting and the depth of your wallet...

i was thinking about running the read speakers of the head unit. i was leaning more to one amp, if possible but if it comes down to 2 amps, i dont mind. i would like to have a good thump from the sub and a crisp sound from the front components
There are many clean 4 channel amps....You could run the front stage off the front 2 channels, bridge the rear 2 channels for your sub,,,,and your rear stage off the headunit. That would be a great, clean sounding set up....
Again, it depends on how much power you are wanting.
I know Bing, Tech, and other guys will read this and can point you in a more clear direction. I am just trying to help you with a visual.

I would recomend a good 4 channel amp, two channels bridged for your sub and the other two running your front stage. Good idea to power the rears off the head.

my standard go to entry level amp is the DLS CA51
5 channel , 4x65 plus 1x250ish real world watts. the best part is you can use the front four channels of hte CA51 to go fully active on a set of good componnets (two channeks powering hte midbass, two to the tweeter and not use the stock passive oxvers), which sounds better and gives you more control... and 250 watts is about waht JL recommends for a single 10w3...
though not sure of your price range, if you atr elooking at ebay amps then maybe its not as high as the CA51 through me whcih is around 450 dollar range shipped
i dont like hte PG octane R, very cheaply built and to me just sad that anyhtint this cheap would carry a PG name

I feel you on the octane series. So many of the good companies bought and sent offshore only to have their quality compromised and product lines polluted with junk for profit sake, not quality.

Check out their website. I definitely recommend picking up a CA51 through Bing.
