Learned a new trick...
A lame one and probably posted here already, but I didn't see it
in the manual...
If you hold the unlock button down on the remote for I'd say a good five seconds and keep it pressed, both windows roll down. Whenever you reach the desired position of the windows being
rolled down, simply release the button. The doors still remain
locked. You can roll the windows up by inserting the key in the door, and turning it to the right and hold it there.
For the life of me, I can't quite understand why this feature would
be useful, but nonetheless it exists. Perhaps someone could shed
light on the purpose behind it.

10 degrees Celsius today and rainy - cars garaged
See this feature would be useful if I could sit at home and press the remote to lower the windows on a hot day. The problem here is that the crappy remote has such bad range that I have to stand by the car to unlock/lock it. My 2000 Celica I could be in my room (2nd floor opposite the driveway) and still lock/unlock the car.

Ok, you'll laugh but try this . . . . for better reception on the remote, place it under your chin and then press a button. Crazy, but it works. It uses your body as an antenna.
Think I'm crazy? Go try it . . . .

Everytime I hear about these features (I already knew about this) something obvious comes to mind. I still think I'm the only one who has ever thought of this and should probably patent it. If they can make the windows go down by remote, why can't they make them go up?
How many times do you have to go out and roll your windows up because it is raining? Seems rather obvious that having the ability to raise the windows in the rain is MORE useful than having the ability to lower them. Not like lowering the windows as I walk to the car on a hot sunny day is really going to cool off the vehicle.
My two cents.

I would be willing to bet that the windows don't go up due to liability reasons (yet another reason to love attorneys...). I know my '00 BMW's windows don't go up with the remote either. On my Z, I had the Compustar alarm put in and it does roll the windows up and down with the remote as well as a "smartly designed" remote start on cars with manual transmissions that won't accidentally launch the car. Heck it even opens the trunk and the gas lid cover!

Seems like one of those "features" we'll have to wait for so they have something "new" to sell us. Well, then again they don't really advertise the window's down.

Liable for what? I can't imagine it being for someone geting a body part stuck in the window because a remote is just as dangerous as the driver's ability to control all windows. Plus, how can anyone else be responsible for something you do?
