thanks for all of the assitance guys, i felt it was time for a thread like this....while ipodutil worked for me, there are a bunch of other free software that you guys can try....good luck!

 

Just go to download.com and search for idump. It will copy all of your music and videos off of your ipod to your "my music" folder. Then in itunes click "file" and then click "add folder to library". select your "my music folder" and all of your songs off of your ipod will be on your computer in itunes.
