Question about head unit with Navi!
I am looking at upgrading my stereo; because well the stock sucks! I have the stock navi. which I dont mind keeping. I want to replace the head unit with a touch screen. When I went to a audio store the installer said that if you remove the head unit I will lose the navigation, because it runs through the head unit. Thus if I want navigation, I would have to invest in a touchscreen headunit with its own navigation built in.
Is this true?

I'm not 100% but I would think this guy is trying to sell you more equipment. There must be a way to bypass even if it does run through the factory headunit.
Call Crutchfield support and ask them if you can replace the headunit on a Z with OEM navi...they'll give you an honest answer.

You do not lose the navi's display or functions, only its audio guidance feature. There are workarounds for this allowing you to direct voice guidance to your car's speakers. The solution is going to a more experienced installer.
