Default Sub box replacing rear driver side styrofoam

Has anyone done this or looked into replacing the drivers side styrofoam filler with a small 8" custom sub box. I'm out of town and can't measure the size of it, but from what I remember when I covered the rear area with Sound deadening material it seemed feasible.

A couple people on this site have put 10's there. I don't see why an 8" wouldn't work. I would imagine it would have to stick out of the floor an inch or two at least.

I tried to search to find some examples and couldn't find any. I'd really like to take a look at what they did. I only said 8" to be safe, I'd rather have a 10" of course.

Here is a pic of my sub. It's a JL10W6V2. Getting an 8" in there should be no problem.

I wanted to put it under the carpet area and just replace the styrofoam crap next to the spare tire.

Try "Subs, Subs and more Subs" thread at the top, lots of pics there and I saw some that I think you are looking for.

If you mean flush with the floor, then no. The depth there can't possibly be more than like 3 inches. You would have to do something similar to 350Zen's sub and give up that whole corner. Another possibility is an Infinity Basslink in the corner there: a premade sub with a built in amp. Hook up some wires and you're done. As far as I know, the Basslinks are pretty small too, maybe 12"x12"x6"? I can't remember.

That's not true there is more than 3 inches. i would say about 8" deep. I am not sure how big of a box u could build but I would guess u could get AT LEAST .50 cubic feet out of that space and keep it flush. Just look 4 urself. It is not that hard to get the foam out.

I was thinking of something similar. The old JL stealthbox that they made for the 300ZX would be in the same line. As long as you don't have the bose amp in the stock location you should be able to fit a sub under the carpet. I still have my hopes up that JL or MTX would make a stealth box to fit under the carpet. I need all the trunk and storage space in my Z. Gotta carry those golf clubs.
