Alpine CDA-9833 Install w/ stock Bose System
Hello guys, I have an 07 w/ a non-navigation bose system. Per crutchfield, I will get a harness & apparently this is all that is needed. No where does it say that I will need anything else (except the dash kit) After install I don't care for bluetooth being disabled or steering wheel control. Will this harness give me the ability to control stock subwoofer throught the headunit? I've searched & read a few threads that say a PAC adapter is required for this. Crutchfield does not mention this. Will this headunit install like any other headunit & will it work properly throught this apparent plug & play process? Most of these threads are rather patchy; information seems incomplete. My intention is to do an extremely detailed install step-by-step so that anyone interested in their own install has no doubts. I am all for encouraging anybody who wants to learn & can say look what I've accomplished. I hope these questions that I have can be answered. In return I will consolidate all the information & steps then I will post.
I think the PAC adapt. is the way to go. From what I have read and understand,,,it takes the "hiss" out of the Bose speakers and a few other things, I cant remember.
I am sure you could plug and play with just the harness,,but not sure how it would sound?
Keep us posted,,,I would like to hear the out come. Good luck and take photos of your new install.

from what i read about aftermarket head units with existing bose system youll need the PAC adapter for it to work correctly. Lets put it this way, bose doesnt play nicely with others.
I dont understand by it doesnt get along with bose.... if your taking the bose head unit out...... whats left that is bose? the speakers? i assume you would replace those **** speakers..... so if you swap the headunit and speakers out, i dont know of any bose left... so what am i missing? btw you lose steering wheel control with aftermarket headunit?

When heaunit comes out, the Bose amp is left along with the sub & speakers. I want to upgrade my system in steps, 1st. heaunit, 2. components & sub. The reason I am asking this question is due to the time in which I will have just a heaunit upgrade. By the way, steering-wheel controls w/ bluetooth will be lost. I have done quite a bit of research & I don't think it has been done so far? Accordaleer, do you have an aftermarket system in your z?
You should be able to retain your steering wheel controls with this interface.

I used it when I installed an Alpine IVA-W200 in my Escalade which has a BOSE system.

Ahh ok, not yet buddy, still stock, im doing like you sort of. Im just buying peice by peice until i get everything together and having a shop install it all. Gonna take a while, but i wanna do it right. Havent figured out which HU im gonna go with yet.
Ive heard this PAC device is slow. it has some delay in reponse & also it needs transisters, soldiering, splicing. Seems like it is not worth it in my opinion. It would be a positive if it would maintain bluetooth but it does'nt.
ugh effin A...... slowness? wtf..... why does **** have to be complicated... i cant go without steering controls...... main feature of having a touring lol..... leather seats and bose...... thats it really.....

Well, i wouldnt mind a remote, i loved the remote i had on my old sony headunit. I want a headunit like that, when it was up it was just a screen but it folded down at the push of a button to show the controls. They must have a newer version by now, i gotta check it out.
ok well im the guy that did this about 2 weeks ago. i went and got a pioneer 9800 bt . i used crutchfields harness but caped the leads to the speakers from the hu harness and used the preouts minus the sub one. on crutchfields harness i added rca ends and plugged them into the pre outs. my hu has 5 volt preouts and sounds pretty good but i cant crank it nearly as loud as the stock hu without distortion. a couple of local shops said i need to get 2 line converts to change the signal from the low pre amp out even though it is 5 to a stereo level signal since its going to the pos bose amp. ill let you know how it turns out. hope this helps. im doing the same thing by doing it in steps
