Default Can I add an amp/sub to the stock non-bose radio.

I have the 160 watt stock radio in my enthusiast Z. I have two 10" MTX subs with an amp laying around my house. Does anybody know if the stock head unit has rca jacks so I can hook it up. I didn't want to change the head unit, because I leased the car. Thanks for the help.

no rca jacks, but you can get a line level converter. I have a 4x75 amp, 2 channels feeding the front spkrs, and the other 2 bridged to 150w to a rear sub. rear speakers fed off the stock headunit without amp, and still need to set the fader to front, because the stock rear speakers are 32ohms/

2003z, thanks for the info, I have a 250watt 2 channel amp, I would power the fronts and rears with the head unit, and use the amp to power the subs. Can I do that? I'm not familar with a line level converter, could you explain it a little more, I appreciate it. thanks

I added a sub and amp last weekend... I used a rca converter to tie into the the rear speaker line, and just used my amp to push the sub. I also ran the remote to the cig. lighter, instead of the radio.

That will work. Like nmilsap said, with a line lever, or RCA converter as its also called, you splice off the speaker lines, the high level signal goes in, and it converts it to a low level rca signal for the amp input.

You may also want to install base blockers on the stock speakers if you are installing an aftermarket sub and amp. It will help with the destortion.
