First Look: KPtechnologies Push Button Start
I don't know if this was covered, but I did see someone ask this on page 22 and I didn't happen to see a definite answer, but what happens on the IG50 system when the fob is removed from its 5-6" range while the car is running. Just say on accident, your passenger picks up your keys or u hit a large, and I mean large bump that makes your keys fly to the ground lol? If it only needs to be 5-6" only during the starting of the car, I guess this isn't an issue.

We've pretty much scrapped the passive RFID IG50 due to security concerns (but to answer your question the fob only needed to be read before the car was started, after that you could put it in your pocket or do whatever you wanted with it).
I still won't have all the information I need for an update until some parts get here, but I think we finally figured out a way to "handle" all of our concerns regarding safetly, security, and liabillity. Now, my last concern is that very, very, very few people will actually have the means and/or ability to complete (or have a shop complete) the full installation to go truely keyless. I've been saying this for a long time - the level of modifications and integration is substantial. If I were a professional installer I wouldn't touch something like this for less then $500 labor. This will put total system cost around $1000 by the time you get all the other little parts that we won't supply (like OEM security interface).

What details would you like to know?
The stage 3 version will have an included keyfob. You will have to set the keys close to the receiver to trigger the module. I don't have anything finalized on this yet, but most likely the receiver will be mounted under a cup holder, and you will drop the keys in the cup holder to turn the ignition on.

Thanks for your help!
We've never released an Ignition Controller (ie the stage 3 add on) so that is why it isn't on our site. We developed a Passive RFID system internally that worked but didn't provide adequate security against hot wiring the vehicle. We are currently testing a product from a 3rd party that still won't provide as much security as the OEM, but may be enough to get us by.
If this setup works we'll most likely offer a product with absolutely no security at all and make recomendations as to how to achieve a decent security level. This will help remove the liability from us and put it on the installer and 3rd party provider.

Please let me know when you have anything close. I dont know if you have a list of ppl for the stage 3 alike, but count me in. do you have anyone in Metro Atlanta that sells your product?
Keep an eye on this thread for the lastest info.
We don't do "lists" because of their high drop out rate (usually over 50% of the people on the list don't follow through).
We don't currently have any installers in the Atlanta area.

Just a little update - we've evaluated two different products from 3rd party companies and neither are going to work out. We are in the process of ordering a product from another company to see if it will be compatible with our design.
Is the main thing about the unit is the security issue? I'm surprised it's taking this long, but understandable. I think the price for the unit sounds great, but the install and it's complicated install / price will what drive a lot of people away. Would it not be the same concept as installing an alarm system?
Security is a big factor, but in the end it's low expected volume that is making this take so long. We orginally wanted to develop the complete system in house, but the massive amount of time required to create the secured two way wireless protocol outweighed the number of units we are expecting to sell (< 25 / year).
Unfortunately, there is no "easy" way to install a complete keyless push button system and we know that this hurdle will prevent most people from doing this. It is similar to a remote start, but the difference is you have to bypass the mechanical steering wheel lock - this isn't going to be cheap nor easy as there is no standard way to do this.
So, now we are trying to find some third party solutions that will meet our own internal quality standards and will function the way we need them to. We had one we really liked, but the company was not willing to work with us.

That is a very reasonable price!!

We are currently testing two solutions - not sure how either will go at this point.
Both are commercially available - one uses Bluetooth from a Cellphone the other uses an included remote. Both are capable of unlocking the doors as you approach, but neither provide that "extra" layer of protection that we would really like.
