Default Metalized tint and V1 detector

I have a question regarding the Valentine1 radar detector and use of it with metalized tint.

I know there's diminished performance of the V1 with metalized tint (18% and 28%). I was wondering if anyone here has tried the two combined to see realistic expectation of performance level. I've read the stats at the V1 website but wanted some real hands on feedback.

Would you strip the tint and start from scratch with dye based tint? I really like my tint but I like my clean driving record better.

Alternatively, would an exterior mount of the base unit be a consideration? Maybe under the car in a protective case using the remote display unit on the interior?

Yeah well ... sometimes we "grasp". LOL Thanks to all who can offer insight!

I have 35% metallic titanium tint on my 350z and I haven't noticed any diminished performance. still registers and gives me plenty of warning.

My V1 is working fine although it is attached on to the 13% titanium tint film on the windshield. The rear is 6%.
