Is that what the site says? I thought their mount worked with all their batteries?

Just for reference (see link below): the stock Z battery weight is 35#. 20# of savings is pretty significant -- and the Braille looks really cool, too.

Sean, I think the stock actually weighs more than 35 pounds. Thought I read on this forum it weighed in around 60 pounds.

I haven't taken out the stock battery in my 2003 yet, but most OEM lead plate batteries do weigh in around 50-60 Lbs or more . I know my 2003 uses a lead plate battery. I doubt, but it is possible, that the later years of the Z use a glass mat battery that may weight in at 35-40 Lbs.

I think I may order the Braille battery this week. I am still using the OEM battery and it's been under the hood for 4 years now. I want to be proactive and replace it before the winter. I don't feel like getting stuck somewhere in 0 degree weather.

FYI: I wouldn't invest in the CF wrapped if you're plans are to keep it in the stock location. You really can't see the CF there. However, if you plan to mount it and want a little more bling look the CF is really nice. Also, the Braille battery charger is nice and very easy to use. It comes with quick (dis)connects for easy charging. I bought the charger since I know my car is sitting right now and the battery will need to be charged when I return home.

Just wanted to share a tad bit of info regarding the Braille battery & charger. My battery ran completely dead. My wife attached the Braille charger with no luck. After contacting Braille she was told the charger won't charge the battery if it is completely dead. Braille tolld her to use jumper cables and connect the Braille battery to a charged battery. Don't jump start the Braille battery! Just connect the good/charged battery with the dead Braille to make the charger think the Braille battery has a charge. My wife told me this worked and she didn't need to 1) buy solid state charger or 2) return the battery to Braille for recharging.

i knew something would go wrong with that battery. I was going to purchase the exact same one but i leave my car in the garage for long periods of time too much and feel like i would kill it.

Well with the Braille charger you can leave it attached to the battery to maintain a charge. Its with any modification to any car. You have to give to gain.

yup, that's true. with my experience, i have had a lot of bad luck with regular batteries so i had to get myself a deep cycle one. The deep cycle still hasn't failed me.

well, my battery purchase is coming up soon. I'm still going to try the larger Braille battery. I hope since I drive my Z daily I won't experience the same issue.

While I was home and drove my car everyday I had 0 issues. I went to Vegas for 5 days and had to charge it for about 3-4hrs when I returned.

wondering what the people out there would recommend for a lightweight battery for use as nothing but a weight saving approach. i am running no special audio system besides the stock bose. if anything i may put in a pioneer avic d3 head unit in the future. otherwise im not gonna be running a intense audio setup. which is the minimum you experienced people out there think i can get away with?

I'd go with the same set-up as me. The Braille has served me well. Also no problems since the audio (Avic-D3 w/ JL Audio 500/5 & 10W3v3) install.

I'm a 59-year-old CBP officer on the verge of retirement; my gross income la-
st yr. was 81k; when I retire on 3/'09, the projected/estimated income for '08
is circa 90k, & I couldn't afford one of those Brailles OR Stingers! Just WHAT do you guys DO for a living? Are you paramours of the rich'n'famous??? Man!
My only logic's that, with all my middle-class debts, my income's diluted, ren-
dering my net salary ('bout 73K) into virtual "zilch"! I recently had to get a "Silver" battery from Autozone--$78 buck'os! Whoa!!!

How do "I" afford it... I give up other things (I don't drink, smoke, go to clubs/bars, etc...) and also know how to manage my money.

It's been about a year since this thread was started. I'm thinking about getting a lighter Braille battery.

Are you still happy with your Braille battery?

bump...

I'm wondering if more people have any experience since this thread went dormant.

My OEM battery for my 03 is finally dead. I'll try to jump start it later, but I'm thinking of buying a Braille like this one. I don't have an aftermarket system, and I will take the battery out during storage.
