i just installed a new alpine IVA W205 in my Z, i like it alot so far

the stereo quality has improved marginally over stock lol. these speakers have GOT to go... i also got the MRA F350 amp with it (if anyone is considering buying one of the new alpine multimedia HU's order it from crutchfield, you can get this amp super cheap...)

speakers are going to come within the next month or so, as soon as i figure out which way i want to go... im either going to go 2 way active with some midbass in the rear, or full 5.1 surround. i usually hate rear fill speakers, but i think im going to have to bite the buller with this install . and im thinking as long as im going to put some speakers back there, i might as well try the 5.1 since this amp is pretty much designed for it.

i hate making decisions when it comes to stereos, im too indecisive for them

 

I did a mock-up using 5.1 in a Z coupe. It doesn’t sound right at all. The interior space is too small for that type of sound staging. If you install a center speaker, that is about all you hear since it drowns out sound from the other speakers.

yeah, i had considered that, and i was thinking about doing a pro logic 4.1 system just because i wasnt sure how the center channel would work.

now im actually contemplating selling the f350 and getting the h701 to do a threee way active set up. ive already got some pretty killer 6.5"s that would perform great midbass duty up to about 1khz, would just have to mate it to some mid-ranges (probably morel mw144s) and then find a good textile or silk dome tweeter...

got an amp that i could use to run the mid ranges and tweeters, just dont want to have to use it since its a collectors piece and its still bnib
