I've had my K-40 for years and it has saved me MANY times. The ONLY time I have gotten ticketed and caught was in the middle of nowhere Idaho when I got hit with instant on. In that case it happpened so fast that the front didn't even alert and only the rear did. Yes, I was going quite fast as I was on the AKA Rally at the time.

The V-1s worked well but 3 of 5 people who had V-1's got ticketed, only one of 4 who had a K-40 did (me), and 0 with a the beltronics (yet there was only one person with it) and he had a K-40 supplementing it. I know it's not a "conclusive test", but I'll stick with my K-40 from personal experiences.
The K40 is crap! Be sure and read the comments and responses on youtube.com

So where did you V1 guys order your units from? It looks like most places have it for $499 but on V1's website it's $399. Are these the same versions or is the one on their website not the most current one (don't see why it wouldn't be)?

This is where I'm looking at it: https://store.valentine1.com/store/

I got mine almost 10 years ago directly from them. It's $399. What's "most places"? They only sell direct. See http://www.valentine1.com/lab/Previously5.asp.

Correct. Anyone else selling them is just reselling them after buying them from that website.

Ones from the valentine website are the most current ones... No matter what... I would buy from them if I were you.

That's where I got mine...

For those who base their opions off of radar test....

Unless a test is done from "off the self" products, radar tests are not subjective to what you'll see in the street. When a test groups does a test, they contact all the manufactures and ask for a free product cause it cuts cost. These manufactures then send the testers their "juiced up" version of the unit. The units that are then tested are not the same units that we can buy.

k-40 won't work period... but I guess if there is a bluetooth system in the car as well, at least you can blame it on that.

Because Valentine1 does not ship overseas and often Canadian and other foreign buyers have no choice but to go with "brand new in box" units on eBay or other sites that are simply run by people who buy from V1 and sell off. Not everyone has friends/family in the US!

I have the Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar and Laser Detector (Red Display).....blue display is around 50$ more for the same exact detector.. its hardwired into my z using a 2 wire phone cable.. this thing has saved me more times than i can count.....as soon as it makes any noise i lay into the brakes really hard, and i havent been ticketed yet. rarely ever get false alarms, unless im driving infront if a store or somthing with an automatic door..

Hi Everyone,

We're a new sponsor here at my350z and to celebrate we're offering 30% to all my350z members.

Rather than splicing into your factor wiring harness or running a wire from your fuse box, the SRD cord from Stealth Cords is a discrete power cord solution that connects your compatible Radar Detector to your factory powered rear view mirror.

Our sale runs into the end of Feb - so don't miss out.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....62#post5133862

All the Best!

Thank you for your support!

My Valentine is awesome on the highway but it gets kind of annoying in cities because it is so sensitive. It's worth it though since speeding in city areas is a pretty dumb idea anyway.

I have an 8500 and a V1. The 8500 is in it's box and the V1 is mounted in the Z. No contest the V1 arrows make all the difference to me.

Buy a two mile cop scanner, ie radio. If you hear voices on the scanner slow down till the signal is lost.
