This thread will go on and on and on, everyone has their favorite among four or five on the market. I love my Escort Solo S2. Have two of them and they serve us great.

Coming from an Escort 8500 user, get a Valentine One - plain and simple. They'll both detect radar well, but the V1 will detect all forms of laser, including stealth mode with near flawless results. The Escort will only detect 5/8 different laser signals, and will not pick up stealth mode.

Most cops in Dallas still use Ka. There are a few Laser and Pop traps. If you are really paranoid then pair a good detector with the Blinder M20 laser jammer.

You need to hide it. BTW, the M20 is no longer available. It has been replaced with a new model:

http://www.blinderm20.com/

The jammers are mounted under the front grill. You need to have them hiddened away so that cops can't see them. The jammer is to be left on at all times. When you get an alert you must slow down and then turn the jammer off so that the cop can get your reading. If you leave it on they will know you are jamming.

go with the Valentine! I bought mine about a month ago and have avoided at least one ticket! The arrows are great and the fact that it tells you what band you are being hit and the signal strength! well worth the money and if you think about it if you avoid one ticket due to a radar detector then it paid for itself!

This is pretty much the way I decided. As for the person who said one is better because it can detect all laser, I am pretty sure laser detection is useless. Once it detects it, it's too late. You have to get a jammer to avoid laser. Escort does have a jammer that works with theirs if that interests you.
