Recently my brake lights have intermittently stopped working and in the last week have completely stopped. I have a python after market alarm with remote start and had an installer check out the car. He basically says the brake lights are not receiving any volts(parking lights still work) but the wire at the brake pedal are reading 12 volts. He said it has to be the brake relay thats gone bad but he couldn't find it because it is not in normal location for the relay under the hood. Any idea where i could find this relay?
I don't have the '05 service manual, but in other years there is no brake relay, the switch on the pedal goes straight to the brake lights.
What I would do is make sure you have voltage AFTER the pythons brake wire tap. It is possible that the installer broke the wire when they were tapping that signal. Do you have any idea how the wires were spliced? If they used "ttaps" it is very possible the wire broke.
