Valentine 1, Impressed!
i had a birthday this weekend. the wife and i spent sat, sun, and half of yesterday near talladega, alabama with a bunch of friends.
to surprise me, i came home from work friday afternoon to see a V1 sitting on my coffee table. nice birthday present!
i temporarily installed it using the suction cups, and routed the power cable under the trim just to get it out of my way. i read the book saturday morning, and we took off later in the day.
at first it was a little intimidating having the V1 go off with X band a lot (driving in the city), but after a while i felt comfortable enough to change to advanced logic mode.
all i can say is WOW! this thing is great. i dont speed like crazy, but when traffic is cruising at 15-20mph over the speed limit i KNOW a cop would rather nail a 350z than a minivan with a soccer mom at the helm.
after a while I found myself cruising at about 85 with a lexus gs400 in front of me (he had a detector too- not a v1 but i dunno what kind). im on his tail, and the V1 goes off with a short Ka band burst of decent strength. i immediately slowed down and switched to the "slow" lane. lexus man kept on trucking. i watched him keep the speed up for another minute or so before he tapped the brakes. his detector must have been pretty good because both of us had pretty ample warning before the police car was seen.
i have a couple more stories from this first trip using the V1 but i dont want to be any more long winded.
if you're looking for a detector, id say go with the V1

Yeah I've got an impressive story followed by horror.
I was passing under an overpass when I get 1 KA burst, good strength, then a 2nd. I immediately slow down. Anyhow, fast forward 10 miles. I go to a nice right-sweeper interchange at about 85 and get pulled over. Apparantly the cop my V1 spotted 10 miles earlier ditched his radar and hit the freeways.
GRR. V1 beat him, but then he fought dirty.

if he "ditched his radar" i would assume that he did the old speed matching trick and SD350ZEE wasnt paying attention to who was behind him
a perfect lesson why radar detectors are good tools, but they arent the be-all-end-all ticket repellant.
