Default hardwiring a radar detector for an 04 350z

all the diy's ive seen are wired off the wires with auto dimming rear view mirrors but my 350z doesnt have the auto dimming rear view mirror. so where do i have to splice and my radar detector only has one wire so is it possible if i just run it off an ignition wire like the one behind the radio?

Get the mini add-a-circuit from auto-zone or pep-boys (9 bucks I think).

The "add-a-circuit" works simply like this:
1. cutt off the female connector supplied with the add-a-aicuit and crimp in the blue part of the red wire on the wire you just cut from the add-a-circuit
2. Unplug the 10amp fuse from the radio terminal in your fuse box.
3. There are terminals for 2 fuses on the "add-a-circuit". Plug the 10amp fuse into the proper terminal on the add-a-circuit, and a *2amp*(aka accesory fuse) into the other--Don't worry, the directions with the add-a-circuit tell you which terminal gets the original 10amp, and which gets the 2amp fuse.
4. Obviously connect the male end of the hardwire kit into the (now modified, see step 1) add-a-cicuit.
5. Ground the ground wire on any bolt connected to the frame under the dash
6. Plug the add-a-cicuit into the terminal from which you pulled the 10 amp side mirror fuse, test your mirrors and RD, button the fuse box up, and go!

It's actually really easy. I just put the hardwire stuff under the steering wheel behind on top of the plastic (under the dash).

I know this may seem kind of complicated but it's really simple. If you need further help just let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

My Z doesn't have the homelink rearview either, and after some research, I found the easiest thing is to take off the A pillar and tap into the green (I THINK) wire. Works great.

I ran the wire along the headliner, down the passenger a pillar, down under the passenger dash and tapped the cig outlet under there. Very easy.
