Default What to do with my Subs???

okay, i have two JL audio 8w6's and a JL Audio 300/2 amp just sitting in my house, i cant figure out where to install them! I wanted to buy that custom sub enclosure from Nazar that fits flush under the rear strut, but im not about to drop 400$ on a damn box. Has anyone attempted to build this themselves?? I was thinking about just building a wooden box, sticking it under the rear strut, then molding fiberglass to cover either side of the box so it looks like its a cool custom box, but it really just covers up both sides of the crappy wooden box. Then i would either carpet it, or paint it the color of my car. Has anyone done this themselves, or have any other ideas? There's gotta be a cheaper way to put those subs there than to pay fricken 400@ for some fiberglass.

Haven't done it yet, but MDF and some vinyl or naugahyde (SP?) should be a pretty clean design. You can build a square box for simplicity and then make the back and face plates to fit the curve of the tower. Shouldn't be difficult to make a cardboard template either.

the EASIEST way to build a box for your 8's is to remove the spare tire and build a regular square box to fit threre. It will sound good as well. The downside is you won't have the spare tire.

JL 8's need a very small enclosure. If you don't want to loose the spare you might try the spare tire sub enclosure pictured below.

MySunsetZ

yeah i painted them silver, its nice and subtle if you like that, but i was looking for something more noticeable. I think im going to redo them eventually to something more noticeable. But yeah they do look sweet in silver, its a very nice accent to the door handles, nissan badges, etc. Yeah i saw that there was a meet in Novi, but whats the age range of people there? Im only 21, i dont think i would be very interesting to a bunch of adults.

im 22 myself. i dont think there's a major emphasis on the age group. i've been to a few meets...most people were older, but we all had that one common interest......our bad a$$ Z's
i have no idea what other cars meet up there, but it should be interesting.

i think we're up to 3 or 4 Z's so far. a low number, but we got a few days to work on that. 10 would be nice. hope to c u there.

peace
