You sure you have the right info on the HU? Crutchfield says it's 100db StoN ratio:

I had an older Clarion deck a year ago and the quality of sound was very good. I was very happy with Clarion.

I don’t have the Clarion unit you ask about, but I can tell you that Clarion makes a great H/U. I do have a Clarion in my Z and really like it. I’ve used Clarion for years, and consider their line as superior.

I've got the Max675VD. it's a great deck for the price. it's a bargain. soundwise it's pretty good, I've always had Alpine 99xx series decks in the past and those were top of the line and I can easily say those sounded better but the Clarion is not that bad. It can put out quality sound. One thing I don't like is that the RCA output is low, so you really need to turn up the gain on the amps and this can contribute to an increased noise floor, but it's tolerable. The Ipod integration is perfect and fast, so easy to use. Radio reception is ok, DVD/CD player is ok but reading mp3s from a DVD is a little slow but that's what the Ipod is for. The monitor is good. One thing I wish it had was a more flexible EQ, there are only 3 parametric bands with a few frequencies to chose from but the gain and Q settings are adequate.
NAV is an option that cost just as much as the deck so if you want NAV you might look elsewhere. It can do satellite but not HD radio. All in all it's a good deck at a great price. The 7" screen is what really sold me, it fills up the dash much better then the 6.5" screens.
