Default 2003 Bose 6-Disc Issues

I have a 2003 Touring with the stock Bose. When I got the car (in KC) this summer I had no issues with skipping however since I moved to Baltimore, MD I've noticed that when the cars cold the skipping is horrible until I blast the heat for about 30 min or so. The audio-pilot sucks and incorrectly adjusts the sound volume all the time, I was going to get it fixed but I was busy with school and my warranty ran out 3 days ago.

How difficult is it to install a new head unit?

I want to use my own amp and sub, which I pulled from my last ride before I sold it. Should I remove the stock amp and sub or just leave them in and wire up my new stuff?

Kinda new to this, so I wanted to know if its doable alone- or if I should just bring it to BestBuy or CircuitCity and have it pro installed.

I live in Baltimore MD, bout a block from Camden Yard's and M&T Bank Stadium and I'd pay you or get some drinks if someone in the area can help me out...

Thanks.
