Default Alpine TME-M740BT install pics?

Hey guys, newbie here. I've searched and searched and seen this screen recommended here, but not a single pic of it installed. Does it fit as easily as the Fahrenheit everybody's so in love with? I want the touch screen function as I plan on later installing the NVE-N872A nav unit but for now just looking to use the bluetooth for calls/music, and maybe a rear view camera. Any help would be appreciated. Btw, I've got the '03 model. Thanks.

The Alpine TME-M740BT is just a great monitor.

It’s a RGB 7" WVGA monitor with touch-screen function. It also has many other features (Bluetooth, A/V out, and camera input with reverse sensor). It provides an outstanding image: 1.15 million pixels (RGB 800x480, 16:9).

Alpine products are somewhat proprietary, so you want to use this monitor with an integrated Alpine system. You mention the NVE-N872A navigation unit as your choice for navigation, and of course these work together perfectly.

You have a 2003 Z, so your upper/forward cubby has a removable rear pocket making it easier to adapt/mount a 7” LCD screen. The screen you are considering (the Alpine TME-M740BT) has a protruding bezel, so you are faced with some custom fabrication. Also, the Alpine TME-M740BT has it’s control buttons along the monitor’s lower edge, so you may want to have easy access to these. That’s easy to do with the 2003 upper/forward cubby since the finishing piece on this cubby can be made removable as well. I believe the Alpine TME-M740BT also supports an IR remote with it’s sensor along the bottom border of the monitor. Again, that’s simply a matter of fabricating the lower finishing piece in your 2003’s upper/forward cubby to allow IR “aiming.”

I probably shouldn’t say anything more, but I cannot resist.

This is the system you are looking at.

Alpine TME-M740BT Monitor

Alpine NVE-N872A DVD-Based Navigation Hide-Away

That is certainly a great GPS/LCD screen combination, but consider the following:
1) It is very expensive ($2,200 SRP), and you can get the same or better for much less $$.
2) It is a DVD-based navigation system which is now old technology.

And, in your specific case, fitting the Alpine TME-M740BT Monitor will require some amount of custom fabrication, which adds to the cost (at least $100 - $200 even if you do the custom stuff yourself).

You have a 2003 Z, so that means you have the most flexible arrangement (i.e., removable rear pocket that is only available in the 2003 Z) for adding a LCD monitor to the upper/forward cubby space.

It is very simple for you (with your 2003 Z) to install a LCD screen. Paul350Z describes this installation very well in his/the following thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....enheit+%2Bpaul

Unless you must have touchscreen control, you could do this for much less $$ ($100 for the LCD monitor and about $500 for the GPS navigation unit) and have just as good or even better navigation system in your 2003 Z using these components:

Farenheit T-7000MHR 7” LCD Monitor (same as Power Acoustik PT-700MHR and NESA Vision NSM-7005 7” LCD monitors, they are identical, just different labels)

Garmin GVN 53 Blackbox (remote) Navigation Unit

And… a picture of the Garmin GVN and the Power Acoustik PT-700MHR 7” LCD monitor installed in my car.

I should point out that my installation does not support touch screen function, and I believe that is a feature you want. I would only say that I like the RF remote control better than touchscreen for several reasons that go beyond the scope of this post.
