Default SQ headunit?

Hey guys i have a z2 right now and im saving up for wheels. Im starting to think i would rather have better sq then all the features. I could sell my z2 and buy a good sq unit and prob make a few hundred in the balance to put towards the wheel fund. In your opinion what are some of the best bang for buck sq headunits out there. What about the new alpine looks pretty good? sorry for the vague thread just weighing my options. Get a little better sound and wheels would be awesome lol. Im running dls iridium 6.2's dls amp jl w6v2 10" sub in zenclosures just to tell ya a little about it. Thanks for any help.

hey bud,

if you are after true SQ, you have a few options:

if you dont want or need tuning aiblit with the HU, then go for a very pure sq headunit, some of these include the highline nakamichis, denons, the clarion 9255z...

most of thes are well into the 1k and above territory...and here is rare one used lol

http://cgi.ebay.com/DENON-DCT-A100-C...QQcmdZViewItem

if you want tuning ability all in eone, the by far, what i would suggest is the alpine 205-701 combo...you get all the unting you need and a clean , dvd playing headunit. with the ability to upgrade to navi if wanted...

thanks guys yeah im not really looking for a 1k unit for pure sq. Im lookin sub 500 dollar range something so i can make a few hundred off my z2 by selling and replacing with something that will sound better. If i cant get any better sound for under 500 then ill just keep the z2. pioneer deh-p780mp will this sound good. I know it sounded ok with the stock speakers but i had my z2 when i went with the high end components. I dont know anything about preouts or whatever i just install what bing and others tell me lol. thanks for the help.

IMHO the Pioneer DEH-P780mp is a very nice unit. Just rock that since you already have it. No out of pocket is better than even a dollar out of pocket.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 780mp is the Premier and the Z2 is not. Pioneer tends to use better electronics in the Premier line. The 780mp also has 5volt preamp out and the Z2 only has 2volt. This means you have less chance of noise being introduced into the signal. Chances are that the 780mp will be more sonically clean than the Z2.
