definitely not a stupid question.
Ideally, no... but boosting the voltage of the preouts boosts your signal to noise ratio, and can go a long way. A lot of audible noise can be solved with proper installation, grounding, and wiring, but cars are very noisy electrically and sometimes your wiring options can be limited. An easy way to make this idiot proof is to boost your preout voltage.
For example...In my last car I ran Zapco amps with Symbilink line drivers which boosted my signal voltage to 18V. With this setup I could be pretty lazy and just route my signal wires however I wanted to and not hear any noise that was picked up. By comparison, the 5120 uses 2V preouts. the 8120 supposedly has higher voltage preouts..
Unfortunately I sold all of that stuff assuming that I would be purchasing a new deck with high voltage preouts -- oops =)

^^ My understanding is that the entire line of Kenwood products that have integrated navigation or connect to an external navigation black box use Garmin as the OEM navigation supplier. The Kenwood KNA-G510 Navigation Box is based upon (and nearly identical to) the Garmin GVN 52 (now GVN53). The “all-in-one” double-din Kenwood devices have the same components (it’s only that the internal circuit board of the “black box” is incorporated into the device instead of being a separate component).
The big difference is the Kenwood OEM navigation devices have touch-screen support while the Garmin GVN 53 black box does not. That is an intentional “cripple” so that the two products do not compete directly. Garmin’s intention is to be an OEM supplier for aftermarket products such as devices from Kenwood and major automobile manufacturers. In the OEM implementation, Garmin supports touch-screen function; but as the Garmin GVN 53, there is only operation via an RF handheld controller.

I read on the G35 boards that this unit will support changing the button color, so that it will match the stock dash colors
FREAKIN HOT
Still trying to find out if it supports custom wallpaper, I'm assuming it does.
This unit is freakin hot and can't wait to get my hands on it.

Icey, if you look up at post #38 by Spike, he has linked to the instruction manual for this unit which is out on the kenwood website now... I believe it can do custom wallpaper.

Thanks bud. I checked out that manual and I could only find the instructions physically installing the unit. I must have missed the Users Guide type of stuff.
I emailed Kenwood support and they confirmed that this unit will support custom wallpaper uploads.
OMG I CANT WAIT

I just had one installed Friday at my local Car Toys. Novice at these things and went with it based on the recomendation of the sales guy. Let me tell you, this is a sweet unit. Only issue I have is it doesn't come with a remote, have to order that seperately, and the adapter for the Sirius hasn't been released from Kenwood yet. The Kenwood rep was there today and is getting HQ to send one for install Tuesday. Also gave me a discount since I was first in CO to buy from CT and have it installed. Whatever that really means. Likewise the Parrott adapter for the bluetoth won't be around for 10 days. At least that is what I have been told. Really happy with this purchase.
