My price list says shipping in February and I can't wait it will be the hottest seller of the year. Just for the fact it will be so easy to use it. I love th e CD/DVD up front without and motorization, and the fact you don't have to deal with a NAV DVD.

We have 12 on order and I believe they will sell very fast.

You can also get a DDX512 which is the same unit without the nav and it will end up selling somewhere arount $500-600 range.

I am very exited about the new Kenwood Video line this year.

Thanks for the informative post, and the preview of the Kenwood Dnx-5120.

This really appears to be a great device:

1) Direct access to the DVD slot/load makes the unit more reliable since motorized flip-down LCD screens are more prone to failure (especially in a climate like Frostbite Falls where ambient temperatures vary from 95 degrees F to -30 degrees F).

2) “Flash Drive/ROM/RAM” GPS navigation that operates much faster than slower DVD or HDD function, and supports easy/instant mapping and application updating via Internet.

3) Great SRP that is below comparative/competing products.

4) The best GPS features and support: Application software from Garmin and mapping database from NAVTEQ

can't wait to take a look at the full spec
I really hope this unit does:
1. provide navigation display output so we can view the nav in the cubby monitor
2. support non-flash USB mass storage device that is 10gb+
3. connectivity to rear view camera
4. capability for integrated bluetooth function

At the end,,,
I can't wait to see this unit in my z

To get all that you ask about and request/want, you should probably consider the Kenwood DNX8120.

1. I hope so too, But I doubt it for some reson Kenwood does not have that, I have been telling my rep all of last year for that option.

2. We will see (I am not even sure 8120 will do that)

3. This unit has a Camera input. MOST DEFINITELY.

4. IT IS BLUETOOTH COMPATIBLE. Kenwood has a BT adapter. I believe the new one is made by Parrot so it will be more compatible with more variety of phones.

This is the first unit ever made by Kenwood that will shoot the Navigation display out to another monitor. As far as the Non-flash USB mass storage that is 10G, it will read large portable hard drives. Here are the only criterias.
FAT 16/32 Format
80GB
500 MA current rating
will not read WAV

We were told that the DNX5120 will have it for sure and that they were trying to get all the other 2008 video product to do this before the final production, but not to cross our fingers.

I wonder if pioneer will upgrade the D3 to compete... any word on something like that?

Otherwise.. looks like this unit will crush.

Thanks, Duke, Nazar, and Spike
Until now, I always hesitated to spend $1000+ for any unit that didn't have all the features I wanted, but I think I can commit to this one
This is so exciting~

What about a pic of the UI for iPod/CD/etc ?

I went to an audio place yesterday, and all the 2din units they had looked terrible. The only good looking display on anything was the Alpine X100.

Looks good!

I was reading alot on the DNX-7100 from last year and the NAV system gets rave reviews, but the media interfaces are always getting bad reviews.

This unit seems to be more media-centric, hopefully the interface has been cleaned up and made more intuitive.

Do you know if it supports custom wallpaper?
