Talking the zland/Paul enclosure HAS BEGUN

Got in last night and was happy to see that the enclosure was there just waiting for me to put it in.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it installed last night. But I wanted to give you all a quick run down.

I think you guys are going to be really happy with this box. I didn't get to test fit it in the Z, but the construction of it is very professional. Nice thick fiberglass, the vinyl looks factory, nice and smooth and the color looks to be a perfect match.

It looks like the JL 10W3 will fit - I just have to shave some off the opening to get the speaker to fit correctly - hence my unableness to get it installed last night.

Instructions look good, nice clear pictures. They are quick and to the point. I do have a few minor questions and want to address them with Paul directly. If he feels they are worthy, I am sure he will make some adjustments to make it more clear for the rest of you.

Tonight, when I get home, I will take some pictures of the box and post more feedback.

Thumbs up IT IS IN!!!!!!!!!!

and oh my F$#@(&(%@#$ GAWD!!!!!!! My ears are ringing!!!

It took me about an hour to sand out the opening enough for the JL to fit and to do the rest of the install (I was taking my time, b/c if I messed it up, after that wait, my wife would have killed me). I soldered all the connections, mounted the sub and adjusted the gain on the amp. I did not screw the box into the wheelwell - I want to see if I actually need to first.

I know it took longer than expected, but trust me - it was worth it. You will all be getting beautiful box for a great price. I have talked to others who have paid to have this sort of work done, and they paid between $600 and $800 (not sure if that included sub or not), but you get the idea. This thing looks factory - I don't think I can pay zland and Paul a bigger completement.

Looks good! Does anyone know the easiest way to wire a sub form there to the storage compartment behind the passenger seat?

I'd just like to say the those who haven't gotten their enclosure yet will be extremely happy with it. I was down in SD the other day at Street Noyz to have Paul install the enclosure for me and some other stuff. The enclosure is top notch. The quality of the fiberglass, the precision of the fitment, and the jaw dropping matching vinyl, is just plain amazing. Not to mention the price, which is quite fair....

I had Paul put in the IDMAX 10" that he recommended and it sounds great. On some heavy low frequency bass it does rattle and blur a little, but I don't think it's the sub or enclosure but rather the song. For those of you that cancelled your order due to the wait time you're going to regret it, cause as you can see from above, it's perfect.

Just thought I'd share my opinion,
NiQk

Now all I gotta do is contact Paul to see when mine will be coming, I've emailed him a couple times with no reply, i think i'll call him tomorrow at the shop. Anyways, i'm sure everything will work out at the end.

1. Calls work best with Paul. He is busy running the shop and does not tend to get on the computer as much.

2. Glad to see that others are liking their enclosures as well as me. That is exactly how I felt, it looks as if it came from the factory with the enclosure. I actually feel Paul did a better job matching matierals and textures than Nissan did on the dash board which in comparision is a mixmatch of colors and textures. When I have shown pople my stero set up, they cant believe it was not factory.

3. On vibration: I am not at the level where I listen to competition stereo set ups. This set up is not suppose to compare to a $20,000 stereo (Paul does a lot of those too). When I orginally had him do my first enclosure, he asked me what I wanted. I told him i wanted very good sound, looks factory, not showy. That is exactly what this is. If I push my stock head unit really loud, i can hear some vibration but I think it is becuse the entire car was vibrating. That can be solved with some insulation. I never play it that loud. Trust me, I play it loud just not that loud.

Boy oh Boy, I'm really anxious to get mine now! That looks great!

What is everyone doing about the trunk mat? Are you having it cut and hemmed to match the contour of the sub? It seems if you just screw the sub down on top of the mat, you'll have trouble removing it and replacing .

There are plenty of holes out of the back panel (before the wheels) where you can fish the wire through (under the interior panels) and around.

The box sits right on top of the mat. No cutting of the mat, no removing body panels, nothing - it can't get much easier than this!!! If you look at my first picture of the box sitting on my workbench, you will see a small dot to the right of center inside the enclosure. Once you get the enclosure exactly where you want it, you are supposed to drill through the enclosure and wheel well to bolt the box to the car. I wasn't ready to drill through, so mine is just sitting in place. I am hoping the fit is tight enough to keep it there, so far I don't think the box could fit any better.

tonkadog, I understand the sub sits on top of the mat, but don't you need the ability to completely remove or at least lift up the mat from time to time, like when you need access to the spare tire? The way it is right now, the mat looks trapped underneath the box.

I don't know why I said Dynaudio. The sub I am getting is the Image Dynamics sub that paul built the enclosure for.

Paul cut my carpet for me when he installed the enclosure and the entire stereo. I think you can cut it or not. When cut like mine, there is no problem with removing carpet to vacuum etc.

Yeah, you can cut your carpet if you want, but you don't have to. The way mine is installed is with the carpet under the box. Since I didn't screw the box in to the wheelwell, my box will slide out from it's current location if I ever need to get to the spare.

WebToker - sounds like a nice combo!
