amp ignorance cured inside
my ignorance, that is. since nobody liked my audiobahn install idea, I am going for a more conservative and proven setup. I am ordering infinity kappa perfect 6.1 components for front, and either another set of components for back (i will custom cut a tweeter hole) or a set of 62.5i or 63.5i for the back. I am worried if I get two sets of components, i will lack midrange, and if I get the 63.5i it will be too bright. Thoughts?
Also, the components run 100rms 400peak, and each pair of speakers is 75rms 225peak. My head unit is 23x4rms 50x4peak kenwood. Amp suggestions?
Thanks.

i dont think the rear speakers do much of anything..
i heard a stereo in a Z with no rear speakers and MB quart reference series components in the front, and it sounded killer. bass was handled by a 10" jl sub.
im torn as to whether or not I want to put rear speakers in mine when I do my stereo. i wouldnt have thought of getting rid of the rears, but after hearing it I was convinced that it sounds pretty dang good.
as far as amps are concerned, the JL 500/5 amp kicks major butt if you are going to do a 5 speaker install. kenwood's excelon 5 channel amp is pretty nice too, and alpine's MRV-450 5 channel packs some serious punch for the price (278 or so on ebay)
if you do just fronts + a sub, the alpine MRV-450 is still a good choice. the kenwood will do it too, but 260w is more than you need IMO for the front speakers.kicker's KX550.3 is a good 3-channel amp. they make a nice 5 channel too.
good luck, let us know what you decide.
