replacing hu...but with nothing...please help
ok title seem kind of confusing but here goes the problem/question....i removed my stock hu and not really replacing it with anything. but i do want to install something like an headphone jack to the wiring so that if i ever want to listen to an ipod thhen i would just have to plug the headphone jack to the ipod and use my car speakers to listen to it. once again there would be no lcd, no headunit or anything there. is it even possible to do this... well i went ahead and purchase the "PAC ROEM-NIS2 1995-2005 Nissan w Bose Replace Factory Stereo CD ". please do help me because i am at a stand still on my project until i get this problem fix.
i thought i could just wired up the headphone jack to the car and plug it into the ipod and listen to it like if the car speakers were my headphone but obviously its not that easy.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
maybe i needed a converter or something, or a stereo controller. i dont know but please do chime in.

You do have to have some form of head unit or amplifier to power your speakers. The problem isn't the control, the problem is powering your front speakers. A headphone jack won't have nearly enough power.
What you could do is purchase a 4 channel amplifier.. something like this, and a headphone-to-RCA cable.. something like this.
The amp has to be powered by your battery, but 50 watts per channel should be enough for your front speakers. If you have subs, you want to make sure the amp will have an RCA output as well, so you can run an RCA cable to your sub amp... if you're planning on using the stock bose system, then I don't know how you would accomplish this.
Judging by your questions, though, I would say to not attempt this install by yourself. Find a friend who's good with car stereos to help you out.
As for filling the spot on the dash? I have no idea. It would be cool to have an ipod dock there, eh?

Can I assume you have the Bose system since you bought the adapter? If so, then this could be easier since the Bose is amplified. Give us some more info on your adapter and maybe we can help... but I imagine you will have to hook up a remote turn-on (one wire) for the bose, and then hook up the signals some how.
Which signals are you supposed to hook up with the adapter? high level or low level?
What time of signals does the bose amp take? This may take some work, but I think you can do it!

yeah i do have bose... and i was thinking about getting an amp and new speakers and stuff but i have already spent 1500 dollars on what i am doing right now with the new system. i am having that spot filled with a lilliput touchscreen. it is flush fit so it will look like it is stock. sorry for not detailing on what im doing but i will show it here once i am done.
but here is the info on the pac oem1. the part that suppose to go to the aftermarket stereo has 18 wires

the manual doesnt say much about high or low but it stated that if power is 25x4watt then use low if otherwise then use high input.

yeah i plug the oem stereo back in to make sure everything is working and it works and sound fine. so a short somewhere is not an issue.
ok i did this test to the hot cable and ignition cable to make sure power is going to the wires. well i learn this when i was 5 and i didnt have a meter with me, but i took a light bulb (led to be exact) and place the positive of the bulb to ignition and neg. to ground then crank up the car, umm no light. so i try to wire the pos. of the bulb to the always hot wire (constant power) and neg to the ground and then again no power to the bulb. i was thinking that this was the issue. this is why i went to purchase the pac box.
and yeah how do i make sure that the amp is on??
