My Bose cd changer is messed up, opinions please!
Well, here's the deal....
My cd changer completely stopped working today (04 Touring)....the radio/tape player play fine but the everytime I try to play a cd it says "cd check disk" no matter what I put in it...and its 3 months out of warranty so getting a replacement is pretty much out of the question. I've done my research on here but want to know how many ppl have had this problem and did anyone find a easy fix (maybe a laser cd cleaner).
If I do end up getting a after market setup, do I have to replace the stock speakers too?
Give me some recommendations on a headunit, I want some thing that is very clean and flush.
I know this is going to be costly because the whole Bose system has to be rewired which a store told me would cost about $250.
Again, Not looking for anything crazy, but any ideas how much a whole system will cost and what I will need? Thanks everyone,

When I had my mustang, I kept the stock 6 CD changer in there and eventually it went on the fritz in a similar manner. Eventually it just ate all the discs I put in, wouldn't let me eject or put anything in or play cd's.
I eventually took out the cd changer and manually removed the CD's from it. This however, didn't fix the problem because I'm 90% sure I didn't put it back together right and/or something was broken anyway.
Let me tell you, some of those CD changers are a real you know what to take apart.
You might as well go aftermarket. If you don't have a navigation already and want one, maybe save up a little longer for something like a Pioneer Avic-D3

I just picked up my 350z from your neck of the woods. mine already has an eclipse navigation unit in it. it looks very clean. the guy i bought mine from still has the stock CD changer. he will be mailing it to me right away. if you want it, ill give it to you for a few bucks. im in alberta, so shipping shouldnt be much.
but personally, i would just go aftermarket. whoever told you it needs 250$ of wiring work is trying to rape you.
with most can bus systems, you have an external amplifier. your headunit is what tells the amp to turn on. so you need a harness, that will allow your aftermarket headunit to talk to the can bus and tell the amp to turn on. PAC audio makes harness' for this on alot of applications. check out www.pac-audio.com i would be surprised if you cant find what you need there. or go to crutchfield.com. they have a harness for 20$. if you dont get the harness, you need to get all new speakers.
and you can get a decent headunit for under $200 if money is tight. but if you want something nice, you can usually find an AVIC-D3 for around 600-900$. i just picked up the AVIC-Z2 for my truck, for $1200 off ebay.

Mine just started working by itself. I only put burned cd's in it now but no problems since.

Well Gues what! I jsut had an estimate done said upwards of 350 bucks!!! But my CD skippage is due to an accident that I was in...But the more money it costs to fix it the better! they will just cut me a check for the price of repair which will help in getting me a in-dash touch screen radio!! Lol 2 screens FTW. But I ahve heard that you cant do anything about it. I am getting contact information from a company that fixes these things on monday...I will hook you up
go to the marketplace... there are people selling their stock bose head unit all the time and is not expensive. I have an extra 04 bose radio with the 6 cd and cassette. the only thing that does not work is the botton 1 so I always kept a cd in there to avoid pressing it...
