The first picture is taken from my garage looking out to my driveway so you can see how dark it is outside. I can't see anything.
This picture is immediately after the first picture; I placed one tripod based yellow halogen worklight 6' behind my car, and what you are seeing is that image.
In my opinion, its pretty significant what you can see with the camera as compared to nothing at all, and when I think about how cheap it was to buy, I don't see any real loss in the deal.

ok, went to the shop this morning and the shop owner called the manufacturer and found out that it wasn't a infrared camera. He's going to swap it with the one that is. watkins, i don't think that's infrared, either.. nightvision should be waaay brighter than that. i'll take pics of the screen when i get it installed..

backup camera
Hi guys...
Forgive my ignorance about this ... my girlfriend has a Murano with the backup camera that shows the image on the screen when she puts it in reverse.
Her factory screen is the same GPS screen as mine.
My question is, can I get that same Nissan backup camera installed and have the image come up on my screen when I put my 6-speed in reverse?
I have a roadster, so seeing out the back when the top is up would be a huge bonus.
Thanks for your advice!

im using the kenwood ccd-2000. might cost a lil more then the ones you guys are talking about here, but at night it works pretty good. the reverse light from my z is enough for my camera to show really clear n good quailty. i have 5% tint and cant see crap out the window at night except moving lights.

You want one that operates at 0 lux..... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Mini_B_W.html
or..http://www.pimall.com/NAIS/bulletcameras.html
I almost got this one...http://www.maxmax.com/aXNiteBulletCameras.htm
They have semi- miniature FLIR cameras but I don't think u want to drop that much cash

You could add more IR illumination as the inverse square law effects IR just as it does visible light. You wouldn't drive down the road with 0.25 watts worth of head light (well possibly some here would if it looked cool ) so why back into darkness with the same amount of light - IR or visible? You could put IR filters on your backing lights so that the visible light is reduced while letting the IR pass - IR filters are not cheap so you might want to just construct your own IR LED arrays.
I don't get looking cool at the risk of running into something but whatever trips your trigger.
