ok so i went to best buy, and he said that they couldnt install my alpine type-r components because the back metal pice was to big and the window would only go down half way is this true, so you are telling me that no one that owns a 350z has type-r alpine components in? is there any way they can fit?

you need a speaker spacer so the window doesn't hit the back of it. I don't know much about speakers or speaker installation but I've seen a few DIY's on this site and people just get spacers.

Hit up Bing(16psibrick) or Nazar and see if they can hook you up with some of their stuff. I know they make great pods and kicks, I am sure they have some spacers available as well. If not you can have them cut out your stock speakers and use the trim as a spacer.

No idea, I don't know much about audio. Check this guys thread to see how the window would hit the back of the speaker though

I have put type R's in a Z and used a spacer to do it. I may have just flipped the speakers plastic grill ring over and used it instead of a spacer. They should have spacers in stock, and if they don't they should be able to make some very easily. If they can't figure that out then I would take the car somewhere else because that is a typical problem that a lot of cars have nowdays...

After you fit them, please post your results in this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/352365-350z-stock-speaker-location-fitment-guide.html

Eventually when we compile enough info in there it may actually help some people!

best buy or circuit city sell speaker spacers. plus i thought all component speakers you put in a 350z require spacers anyway.

I have Alpine Type R components. On a side note, I think they're not really worth the effort w/o being Amp'd. Most HU's will only underpower them.

They should've came with a back plastic spacer. If not, Zenclosures (ebay) has some wooden ones for $27.00 shipped. Here ya go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...7070QQtcZphoto

Not to be the bad guy, but didn't you create a post about going to Best Buy and the majority of the responses where not to go there. Either way to answer your question any speaker can be made to fit in there with some custom spacers which apparently Best Buy was not willing or able to make.

Here is a template I made for someone on here once before. Make your own out of 3/4 MDF.

Also check out Mikes spacers from ZEnclosures. HERE

You can pull the stock speakers out, cut the cones out using a dremel or tin snips and use the remaining molded frame as a great spacer. I used that method for my Boston Z6's and it worked great. After awhile I moved up to pods from Nazar.

i work at best buy as a lead tech. i hate it when people generalize about the company every install bay is different just as every installer is different. sorry for your bad expierence. personally have some kappa perfects in my car (very close in size to type r) i fiber glassed some pods that mount on the door panel to change the mounting angle of the speaker and allow clearence.. check with nazar iknow he produces and sells them if you arent savey in building custom pods. if you arent looking to go that route best buy does sell 1" speaker spacers for about 15 bucks should do the trick dont know why they didnt try using them.. good luck
