Default How tall is the space under the rear bar?

Subject has my question. I'm trying to figure out how tall of a subbox will fit. Width would be helpful also. Thanks!

I am guessing that you may be able to measure that space to get that information. I think that the only tools that you would need would be a tape measure.

Kinda difficult to measure when my car isn't coming in until the end of august...smartass. I want to fit a 12w7 under the bar and am trying to figure out dimensions for the box.

Oh, you didn't mention that in the post. Do a search. Someone posted a picture of the hatch area a few months ago that had all of the dimensions overlayed onto the picture.

It's about 10 3/4" in the center and about 10 1/4" near the edges.

Damn that's it? I'll probably have the box with 2 different heights then; kind of an enlarged front so the sub will be mounted correctly, and a lower second height so that 90% of the box is under and behind the bar. Thanks guys...

Tweeter (in kicks): LPG 26na
Midrange (in kicks): Seas Excel 5"
Midbass (in doors): Morel MW-265
Subwoofer (in hatch): 12w7
Tweeter amp: JBL GTS-300
Midrange amp: JBL GTS-600
Midbass amp: JBL GTS-300
Sub amp: Something that does 1000w at 4 ohms

You could lose the spare tire and build the sub box down into that area, gain some height, and maybe even stuff a 13w7 in there...

I definetly thought about 'glassing a box into the spare tire well, but I really think I should keep my spare. I have AAA, but I'd feel like such a tool having to wait hours for them to come and tow me for a flat. I'm actually thinking 10w7 ported now after looking at WinISD, and hopefully that'll be easier to squeeze under.

****, sorry to bring this up again, but I just noticed the heights conflict. I decided to go with a ported 10w7, but the box I designed is 10.5" high (exterior height) and 24" wide (exterior). Will this fit? I really hope so, because the sub won't fit on a much smaller baffle.

You mentioned kick panels... was searching around for awhile and I cant seem to find any place manufacturing z kick panels.. You planning to build these your self or anyone know of a site I can pick some up from? Working w/ fiberglass kindof scares me , however I have been itching to learn.

I'm probably going to have them done custom, along with 8" midbasses in my doors. I've worked on old cars before, but something about doing kicks in a brand new car makes me nervous. I'll be doing the hu, eq, xover, power, amps, and subwoofer, but the comps and midbass will be done either by mobile innovations in lodi, nj, or sounds impossible in highlands, nj.

There should be a tutorial somewhere on here (I read it once). Fiberglass isn't that scary to work with; it's kind of like paper macche...I just don't know about learning on a Z. I mean it shouldn't be that bad, as long as you cover everything you don't want 'glassed VERY well, but I'm just trigger-shy to do it myself.

You MIGHT be able to make that fit if you remove the carpet and mat. It would be very close.

The Bose system in the Murano has the sub actually mounted to the spare tire in the center of the rim. You can just lift it off if you need to get to the tire. I wonder it that oculd be modified to work with the Z??????????

HMmmmmm....a very intriguing idea. I could make my own glass enclosure that would work like that.

I think we're on to something here...
