Default Bose problem

-These are the e-mails I have taken to the dealer and the response I got from Nissan was posted. I do not see that we are getting anything from Bose and Nissan is less than cooperative. My name was left out for anonymity reasons.

Hello

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Bose Music System in the 2003
Nissan 350Z. Bose has been meeting with Nissan and as soon as a plan is
finalized you will be receiving information from Nissan or Bose Corporation.

I am sorry I do not have any more specific information at this time. I
would recommend contacting Nissan Customer Assistance for any available

Bose and Nissan have an opportunity to make good. Failure to do so, will hurt this product line for many years to come. The silent suffering needs to stop. Let's get the fix and put this thread to bed!

51 of 52 votes agree that the Bose system is poor quality!

This is enough for me to think that we are now in the "critical mass" stage!

Someone needs to draft up an official proposal that we should add to either this thread or the voting thread.
I suggest the voting thread, since no one else has posted there, and the scope of the problem is immediately visible there.

I can do it, but I want to get everyone's feedback on what it should include.
In my next post I will show y'all the email I sent to Bose.
Suggest some changes and we will produce a final result in this thread.
I, or someone else, can then post the official petition to the voting thread.

I can also set up a web site that hosts a "petition signing" that I can maintain until we get 100+ signatures (I honestly think we can do it).

Let me know which you prefer:
1) Message Board Petition
2) Web Site Petition

I'll get started w/ the web site right now so that you can get an idea what it may look like.

Default The email that I send to Bose

Below is the email I sent to support@bose.com.
Give me some ideas or suggestions on what our official petition should be!
Thanks!

I own a 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring that came with a "premium" Bose Sound System.
Due to Nissan pricing schemes, there was no other stereo option for this model car and I unwillingly paid a premium for this premium Bose system.
Because I paid extra for this sound system, I would expect it to perform as advertised.
It does not.
The sound quality of the Bose system in the 350Z is below that of many economy cars.
It should be an embarassment to put the Bose (or Nissan) name on it.

I am not alone in thinking this either.
https://my350z.com is a very popular message board on the internet, with over 15,000 members (granted, not all of them actively participate).
On 8/22/2003 I posted a message with a voting poll so that people could rate the quality of their Bose system.
As of 8/25/2003, less than 3 days later, 55 people have responded:
3: Do not have the Bose system
0: Had the "AudioPilot" problem that was remedied in January 2003
1: Have the Bose system and say the quality is as advertised
51: Have the Bose system and say the quality is poor

51 out of 52 Bose owners say the sound quality of there stereo is poor!
This is NOT a good sign...and we expect more people to vote as this issue reaches "critical mass".

Many of the members of https://my350z.com are preparing to take legal steps to remedy this situtation.
Many of us would prefer to not take legal action and instead have Bose and/or Nissan voluntarily recall/redesign these stereos OR credit owners for a replacement.
One of our major concerns is that the 2004 Nissans are just around the corner, and even more unsuspecting customers are about to make the same decision that we regret.

REMEDY proposed for existing Nissan w/ Bose owners:
1) Nissan and/or Bose need to disclose the retail cost of the Bose sound system.
2) Nissan and/or Bose need to either redesign this system so that it performs as advertised
-or-
Nissan and/or Bose need to credit owners the retail cost of the Bose sound system.

REMEDY proposed for all current and future sales:
1) Nissan and/or Bose need to STOP advertising the existing Bose system as a premium sound system.
2) Nissan and/or Bose need to reduce the retail cost of their cars by the difference between the retail cost of the Bose sound system and the retail cost of the standard sound system.

51 owners are dissatisfied.
Assuming a $35,000 average price per car, that is $1,785,000 capital towards Nissan/Bose.
Bose and Nissan may have our money right now, but they stand to lose a lot of future business and reputation if this problem is not quickly remedied.

Thank you, and I look forward to your reply.

PS: Below are the links to the message "threads" that discuss the Bose issue. However, you cannot view these threads without first creating a member profile on the site. I invite you to do so, so that you may read these threads and see the genuine dissatisfaction that people have with their Bose stereo.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=40303
As of 08/25/2003, shows that 51 out of 52 owners of a 2003 Nissan 350Z with the Bose system are dissatisified.
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=37025
General discussion showing the confusion that neither Bose nor Nissan are interested in fixing this problem.

i hope the "FIX" comes out soon

Bose premium or bose ripoff?? i think that poll tells it all...

Default Proposal for the official petition

Below is my proposal for the official petition to Nissan and Bose.
No, I am not a lawyer!
I need help with the very end!
I need to include some sort of contact information.
I would prefer something official.
I would prefer to NOT have it be me personally!
Please give me some suggestions.
If any of you ARE lawyers then would you be willing to put youself or your firm as the contact?

PETITION: Nissan/Bose to remedy generally poor sound quality of Bose Audio System in the Nissan 350Z

WHEREAS, the undersigned individuals shall be referred to as THE COMPLAINANTS; and

WHEREAS, THE COMPLAINANTS are owners of Nissan 350Z vehicles with the Bose Audio System; and

WHEREAS, The Bose Audio System is only available on the "Touring" model of the Nissan 350Z; and

WHEREAS, THE COMPLAINANTS were allowed no other sound system option with the "Touring" model; and

WHEREAS, THE COMPLAINANTS paid an additional price for the "Touring" model (and thus the sound system); and

WHEREAS, This infers that the Bose Audio System is superior to the "Stock" stereo; and

WHEREAS, THE COMPLAINANTS were genuinely expecting an audio system that sounds better than the "Stock" system; and

WHEREAS, This petition is not related to Nissan Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) NTB02111 (http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissa...ssan/54181.asp) that fixed an "AudioPilot" problem.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMPLAINANTS are issuing the following as THE COMPLAINT to Nissan Motor Corporation and/or Bose Corporation:

THE COMPLAINT is:
"The sound quality of the Nissan 350Z's Bose Audio System is extremely poor and not as advertised, inferred, or as paid for."

THE COMPLAINANTS propose the following as THE REMEDIES for THE COMPLAINT.

REMEDY 1 (to directly compensate THE COMPLAINANTS):
1) Nissan will announce an official Technical Service Bulleting (TSB) indicating the problem with the GENERAL sound quality of ALL 350Z Bose Audio Systems
2) Nissan and/or Bose will disclose the true retail cost of the Bose sound system
3) Nissan and/or Bose will either:
3.1) Redesign and reinstall this system so that it performs as advertised
-or-
3.2) Credit THE COMPLAINANTS the FULL retail cost of the Bose Audio System (WHEREAS, the entire system would need to be replaced)

REMEDY 2 (to address current and future sales):
1) Nissan and/or Bose will STOP advertising, referring, or inferring that the EXISTING Bose Audio System is a premium and/or superior sound system.
2) Nissan and/or Bose will reduce the retail cost of 350Zs with the EXISTING Bose Audio System by the difference between the retail cost of the Bose Sound System and the retail cost of the Standard Sound System.

THE COMPLAINANTS request that THE COMPLAINT be acknowledged by Nissan Motor Corporation and/or Bose Corporation by September 15th, 2003.
...

Again, I need help with some contact information for the very end.
Please help!

Pv

Default Bose Phone Numbers

I have been talking to Michele with Nissan 310-771-8462 and she has not been helpful and says there is nothing being done. I suggest everyone calls either her or 800-231-2373 and make your complaints known

The one way that we can get something done is to keep after Nissan about who we are and also your vin # to get them off this nothing is being done. I meant to let them know in numbers how many people are dissatisfied with their Bose system to get them moving. I have talked to my dealer and he in turn has talked to this Michele 310-771-8462. The 800-231-2373 will finally put you in touch with someone also who is usually Michele..

Question New BOSE problem??

Hey everyone. Has anyone else had THIS problem with their BOSE system? Up until yesterday I hadn't really noticed anything wrong with my sound (of course I've only had the car for 3 weeks now). Yesterday I got in and started the car like normal and then..... silence. Hmmmm... I thought the radio was on when I turned off the car last. I pushed in the **** and then saw that I had just turned the radio OFF. So I turned it back on... still no sound. I turned the volume **** and saw the numbers increase all the way up to 15... still no sound. Tried both radio and CD and nothing worked. I turned the car off and let it sit for a few seconds then turned it back on. Suddenly the sound was back (and quite loud since I never turned the volume back down). It was irritating, but figured it was just a freak thing... no such luck. This occurred once again this morning while I was getting ready to leave for work. Had to turn the car off twice though this time before the sound came back on. Needless to say I want this BOSE "fix" more than ever now.

I have started a fresh thread to just talk about the wording of the Petition.
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/40935-step-2-of-3-come-up-with-final-official-petition-for-bose-audio-system.html

Here are the current voring results:
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/40303-petition-for-tsb-to-fix-bose-stereo-problems.html

115 people have voted.
ZERO people have provided me with feedback on my wording of the petition.

Come on folks!
Are we serious about taking any sort of organized action against Nissan or Bose?

OK, the petition is up and running on my site.

A few warnings:
1) I am still putting the finishing touches on the code that runs the page
2) I am still putting the finishing touches on the wording of the petition.

Things should work, but please let me know if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions.

The Nissan/Bose petition can be found at:

http://www.swooby.com/z/stereo/petition/

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS URL!

Thank you

Pv
