STP Core has excellent balanced mixing as well as Alice in Chains Dirt. For something a little more bassy/punchy can't go wrong with moe. or a studio Phish album (Nectar is the only one I like). Ah yes I almost forgot... the newest Raconteurs is AMAZING!!! Called Consolers of the Lonely.

Are you talking highly compressed and over equalized loud music to test amplitude or high dynamic range natural sounding music for quality?
I make (part) of my living with my ears so I have to preserve what hearing the US Navy left me with so I limit the amplitude to levels that don't cause hearing damage - most of you hit that level and go way beyond.
For the later quality checks I recommend a good recording of either The Eagles Hotel California or Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here. Both have dynamics that are very challenging. I have some versions of "Hotel" where the accustic guitars are just unbelievably real though the right speakers. WYWH is a wonderful clean recording. The producers were very kind to the mix.

Guns 'n' Roses - Use your Illusion I & II. = Estranged, November Rain, Don't Cry. All three of those have great range for you to hear in a good system
Janes Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual = Three Days.
Pearl Jam - Ten = Black

My first post
+Bless the Fall - His last walk [Has a decent amount of bass parts]
+Job for a Cowboy - Day in Black [Has a decent amount of bass parts]
+Job for a Cowboy - Entities [Has TONS of Double bass]
+Remembering Never - Closed Caskets
+Throwdown - Burn
Im more into Hardcore/Death metal so..
Im not sure what you like; but if your fine with just testing the system with the music; try bands such as Job for a Cowboy, As Blood Runs Black, WhiteChapel, From Autumn to Ashes, All Shall Perish, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Emmure, All That Remains
and for Rap...
+Lil Wayne - Imma Beast
+Lil Wyte - Oxy Cotton
+Lil Wyte - Doubt me Now
+Lil Wyte - Bay Area/ Blame it on the Bay [2 different songs]
Techno DOES have bass in song's too; and plenty of it.
just my 2cents
