I have a lot of hiss out of my stereo...
What can be the cause of this?
It sounds like the noise is literally coming out of either my equipment (amps/eq) or my sub...
gains on amps are almost all the way down
Suggestions?

It has done it with two different amps.
ground is sanded to the metal.
No RCA's, using Symbilink cables from Zapco. They are supposed to be balanced and noise free...
Suggestions?
Could it be noise from the power source on my EQ? I tapped the large yellow wire off the bose amp...

The noise is high pitched and does not vary with throttle response...
The noise sometimes comes and goes but typically just comes.
What are the most likely culprite in this issue?
Could it noise in my power wire?
I feel like my grounds are solid, all rigidly mounted with ring terminals and on bare metal.
The power dist. block is a stinger with a 4 ga in and a 4 and an 8 out.
The ground wires are not more than 30 in each of the same gauage as the amp power wires.
I am using stinger or JL wire for everything.
Could it be the fact that my EQ being fed by the high level signals needs a llc and fed it a low level signal?
I just installed everything and now it appears as though I have to gut the whole system again...

could it be that instead of using the remote turn on at the amp i used the ignition on lead?
Just a thought... also, what is the color code for the remote turn on at the bose amp?
Also, in position 2 no hiss, engine cranked I get the hiss.

OK, so I checked the eqx, and apparently they ship the device with the gains turned to the maximum...
I'm an idiot...
I turned the gains down to a respectable level and I no longer hear the noise... once again, I'm an idiot.
I will repost if I get the noise again... hopefully this is a dead thread...

so you are using the SLRCM.01 or the SLDIN T-F, refer to this link:
http://www.zapco.com/prod/symb_prods/symbcableFrame.htm
in either case, you are using hte regular zapco referneces right? have you tried going from the headunit to the amps via just rcas? and see if you have that same issue. give htat a shot, run a cable just outside of hte car, plug it in and see if hte hiss goes away, and let me know how it goes

I cannot run just rca's b/c the 500.1 only has the symilink connection.
Also I have a stock bose headunit.
I also had the same type noise when I was running different amps with just RCA's from a cleansweep unit. Amps are now grounded to a different spot in the car where the paint has been removed so it is bare metal to metal contact.
the only thing that is used from previous install is the main power wire and some of the connections out of the bose amp where I spliced in.
